Christians ....can you explain this?

1. According to your Bible I am to believe that human kind is sinful for Adam and Eve ate the fruit of knowledge. Why are we being punished for the original sin? After all, they ate the forbidden fruit, we didn’t. Reason would lead one to say it’s their problem, not ours. Even the bible contradicts itself by claiming in Deuteronomy 24:16, “children shall not be punished for the sins of their fathers.”

2. We are told that the Bible has no scientific errors and is utterly perfect/protected, yet it says the bat is a bird (Leviticus 11:13 & 19), hares chew the cud (Leviticus 11:5-6), and some fowl (Leviticus 11:20-21) and insects (Leviticus 11:22-23) have four legs.

3. Heaven is supposed to be a perfect place. It is of course, the place you strive for and name “salvation”. Yet, it experienced a war (Revelation 12:7). How can there be a war in a perfect place and if it happened before why couldn’t it happen again? Why would I want to go to a place in which war can occur? That’s exactly what I’m trying to escape, aren’t you?

4. We are told salvation is obtained by faith alone (John 3:18 & 36) and then the Bible claims that it is repentance that shall save us (2 Peter 3:9) yet Jesus told a man to follow the Commandments-Matthew 19:16-1 8 (saving by works)-if he wanted eternal life. So which way is it and how do you know your belief is the correct one?

5. According to the text there are 29 cities listed in Joshua 15:21-32. One need only count them to see that biblical math is not to be trusted. The total is 36.

6. Surely you don’t believe Ecclesiastes 1:9 RSV (“What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun”)? How many cities had an atomic bomb dropped on them prior to 1945, and how many people walked on the moon before 1969?

7. If the Bible is our moral guide, then how can it make pornographic statements such as: “...they may eat their own dung and drink their own piss with you” (2 Kings 18:27)? Also consult Numbers 31 where a whole tribe of people, including the elderly and children are slaughtered. The only survivors were the virginal women, who were later raped by the “just and perfect” Moses and his men. Is that what you want your children reading on Sunday?

8. If God created everything, (Colossians 1:16, Ephesians 3:9, Revelation 4:11 & John 1:3), then he did create the world’s evil (Isaiah 45:7, Lamentations 3:38). Thus, he is responsible. Any being who could create situations such as rape, death, malnutrition, disease, molestation and murder is certainly not fit for worship.

9. For justice to exist, punishment must fit the crime. No matter how many bad deeds one commits in this world, there is a limit. Yet, hell’s punishment is infinitely greater. It’s eternal. Shouldn’t a sinner suffer until remorse is felt and the crime is atoned for? What “justice” is there in infinite damnation?

10. Jesus said, “whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire” (Matthew 5:22). Yet, he himself did so repeatedly, as Matthew 27:19, Luke 11:40 & 12:20 show. Shouldn’t he be in danger of hell too? Jesus also told us to “Love your enemies; bless them that curse you," but ignored his own advice by repeatedly denouncing his opposition. Matthew 12:34 (“0 generation of vipers”), and Matthew 23 :27 (“... hypocrites... ye are like unto whited sepulchres.“) are excellent examples of hypocrisy. If Jesus himself is a sinner by his own admission then surely he can not be the “perfect lamb of god”.

Update:

Christians use verses from the bible out of context all the time....

Insults are not a reasoned answer to my questions.....

Update 2:

Only Manolos** I have checked and 2kings 18-27 is accurate....

http://bible.cc/2_kings/18-27.htm

Update 3:

ticd....Just calling me a lier is not a good answer

..several of the verses quoted are NT

For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19 RSV) Clearly the Old Testament is to be abided by until the end of human existence itself. None other then Jesus said so.

2) All of the vicious Old Testament laws will be binding forever. "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)

also from NT

you know, this is a very good question.

im a christian but idk if i can answer it just yet.

i think i'll come back and edit my question with your answers.

but, may i ask, have you read the WHOLE passage from where you got these verses? sometimes we need to read the whole thing to understand it compleatly.

ill come back and edit my question. :]

    1. i understand where you're coming from, but remeber, thats the old law. here is that same verse in the message version. "Parents shall not be put to death for their children, nor children for their parents. Each person shall be put to death for his own sin." do you understand now?

    2. so to understand this, you have to understand that God would have been speaking to Moses in a way he would understand. therefore, he says that a bat is a bird because to Moses, anything that flies, is a bird. and when God says "cud" that just means grass. hares eat grass.

    3. you have to understand that revelations is based on a vision that john had. when there is a war, i believe he means the holy war that goes on between angels and demons. and there will be a war between the demons and angels in the end times. remember, revelations hasnt happened yet. after God banishes satan and his demons to hell forever, there will be no more wars in heaven.

    4. john 3:18 and 36 state clearly that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. thats the way to get to heaven. this is what 2nd peter 2:8-9 says in the message version. "Don't overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn't late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn't want anyone lost. He's giving everyone space and time to change." this means that He is giving everyone time and space to ACCEPT Jesus Christ. here is matthew 19:16-30 in the message version. "16Another day, a man stopped Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"

17Jesus said, "Why do you question me about what's good? God is the One who is good. If you want to enter the life of God, just do what he tells you."

18-19The man asked, "What in particular?"

Jesus said, "Don't murder, don't commit adultery, don't steal, don't lie, honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as you do yourself."

20The young man said, "I've done all that. What's left?"

21"If you want to give it all you've got," Jesus replied, "go sell your possessions; give everything to the poor. All your wealth will then be in heaven. Then come follow me."

22That was the last thing the young man expected to hear. And so, crest-fallen, he walked away. He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and he couldn't bear to let go.

23-24As he watched him go, Jesus told his disciples, "Do you have any idea how difficult it is for the rich to enter God's kingdom? Let me tell you, it's easier to gallop a camel through a needle's eye than for the rich to enter God's kingdom."

25The disciples were staggered. "Then who has any chance at all?"

26Jesus looked hard at them and said, "No chance at all if you think you can pull it off yourself. Every chance in the world if you trust God to do it."

27Then Peter chimed in, "We left everything and followed you. What do we get out of it?"

28-30Jesus replied, "Yes, you have followed me. In the re-creation of the world, when the Son of Man will rule gloriously, you who have followed me will also rule, starting with the twelve tribes of Israel. And not only you, but anyone who sacrifices home, family, fields—whatever—because of me will get it all back a hundred times over, not to mention the considerable bonus of eternal life. This is the Great Reversal: many of the first ending up last, and the last first."

notice at the end how Jesus said if you follow me you will have eternal life, AND if you do the things my Father commands, you will get greater rewards in heaven. all those verses if looked at carefully, say that Jesus is the only way to heaven.

    5. notice how they say this at the beginning of the passage. "This is the inheritance of the tribe of the people of Judah, clan by clan." the list you are referring to states the towns and their villages.

    6. to answer that one, i have to say, in order for those occurances to "come again" they had to start somewhere. therefore, we dropped the atomic bomb. it will come again. when David is saying all this, he means that wars will never cease to exsist.

    7. you have to remember that the bible should be rated X. God shows us things in there that shows us that we are simply human, and we are bound to screw up. ex. King David and his affair with Bathsheeba.

    8. yes God did create everything, and notice how he created the angel Lucifer [later satan after a rebellion] and satan went and created evil. its a domino effect. satan is the only one who "creates" evil.

    9. the justice that is served there is the fact that Jesus said if you dont believe in me, you will go to hell forever. so, they didnt believe, and they will be punished forever.

    10. when Jesus is speaking here, he says CARELESSLY call someone a fool, or thoughtlessly yell stupid. Jesus is able to judge because he is God. He can say that because HE can judge us. even though you judge someone doesnt mean you dont love them.

    i hope this helps. :]

wow. you are more legalistic than God.

you make a mistake due to the translation. the old testament laws are not binding "forever".

Jesus defines "forever"...... "not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished.."

so the old testament laws are binding until a new testament is made.

    ---

all these challenges you mention have probably been well answered by other christians before so i'm trying to make these short.

    ---

deut.24:16 is in regards to something different.

like for instance, if your father or mother stole money from the bank.. then the one arrested would be your mother or father, not you.

but, because your parent stole, does that mean that you will likely rob a bank someday?

    ---

a number of your objections are based on translation issues. so they might as well be ignored.

    ---

    5. wow. these guys who translated this language that they didnt even speak were sure lousy with the math werent they.

    ---

    6. oh.. did he mean nuclear bombs and rockets or shuttles that went to the moon?

    ---

    7. you call such an act of desparatation as that pornographic?

    .

it doesnt say that the women were raped.

i might be wrong but, it seems that you have a dirty mind.

    ---

    8. if you check the original language in a concordance. you'd see that isaiah 45:7 is saying

God created judgement to avenge evil.

    same with lamentations 3:38,

    from God comes judgement.

    ---

    9. you are trying to apply mens penal system to a matter that is actually based on eternity.

in the matter of eternity.... the punishment is in accordance with the side you chose.

then you are actually being punished with the punishment that is due ultimate evil... when you are not ultimate evil.

its similar to the original sin living under a curse thing. only as long as you are physically alive, you can get free from the ultimate punishment.

everyone is on death row. a pardon is offered. but not all who are presented with it, recognize it for what it is.

    ---

    10. apparently calling someone a brood of vipers is not as bad as calling someone a fool.

you equate denouncing lies with cursing?

    -

about the issue of Jesus record... whether you agree or not, God has already judged his conduct as righteous.

    .

    RE: point 8

God creates the evil that is adversity/calamity/disaster, the punishment for sin not the evil of sin.

This world is corrupted by sin. That's not God's fault, but just imagine if you will a world where sin reigned and there was no punishment for it.

Your other points have answers too, but I don't think it's fair to ask so many questions in one question. In asking so many you are glossing over the importance of each one, which is a tactic that causes you to seem intelligent, but not really. If you want to ask them in separate questions I for one woud be glad to offer an answer.

well for one your never gonna understand these things really until

    you get a revelation.

two if you were really brave you would sit down with a couple

of your local preachers that can really dig into these with

a bible in front of you...but then you might actually learn something....

three your adlibing and giveing your own slant on what

some of these verses mean so your being deceptive...

    1.

before moses there was a different way things were done

then moses and the law changed that...

then the children of isreal rejected Gods ways again so

he then gave a curse against them that even the children

would suffer unto the seventh generation...

then Christ came and set us back on track that everyone

is responsible for thier own way.

    2.

in spanish a dog is called a pero....whether they wanted to call

winged insects fowl or not is up to them...the four legged fowl

are obviously insects...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure

that out...whether they want to include bats into the fowl

catagory is up to them not us....

    3. all you need to know about heaven is that on judgement

day the "former things" will pass away...BTW it never

says heaven was perfect as you consider perfect in

the old testament...only GOD is perfect not the location...

    4.

salvation is obtained by faith and repentence this is by

    applying a little math...its called 2+2 = 4....

as to Christ telling the man to perform the commandments

that was the correct thing to do for Christ had not died yet

and fulfilled all the prophecy....so right up until Christ died

and was resurected you need to abide by the LAW.

    5. actually i count 38...not 36 so since your wrong

you must be a lier right?...

    6. as to nukes and the moon...we don't know what when on

technology wise before the flood so who are you to say

they didn't? but for those of us who have understanding

we know this to mean the ways humans acts and what

we do to each other on this earth and to our selves..

    7. your lying on this one....that was an insult directed at the

jews by thier enemies....that was not what God or the jews did

it simply records what thier enemies said to them.....

    8. your lying again...it never says they raped those girl children

it says they did take them prisoner...as to the killing of Gods

enemies so what...in the OT(which you seemd to be fixated

on) if you were not on Gods side you died..end of story...

    9. go ahead blame God see how far it will get you...

    10. Christ died for you in the NT....thats why you will burn

for eternity if you don't accept and serve him...God said

vengence is his....this means MORE than just pay back

you will suffer for rejecting him and his son as you should.

    11. you lied again..Jesus never called anyone a fool

God did in Lk 12:20....big deal...

are you suggesting that just becuase Jesus corrected everyone

from the error of thier ways and then DIED for them he didn't love them? did you forget what his last words were?

father forgive them for they know not what they do? hmmmmm

that sounds pertty loving and even a blessing to me.....how about

    you?

Jesus committed no sin...but he took the blame anyway....

try to actually read the bible and have an open mind instead of going down one of the bible contradiction lists and repeating them

    here....

people with any biblical skill will rip you apart if you do....

oh and just one more bit of help for these questions

    read duet 29:29.....it answers everything...

    easy peasy....

Sweetheart, you really have taken so much of this out of context. There are a few areas you have misquoted as well. Ex: 2 Kings 18:27.

Seriously try and read the Bible with the mindset of understanding and not trying to disect it to suit your needs. It will make sense once you do this.

27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?

I think people just need to believe in something Because we don't know what is going to happened after death. Besides every civilization had their own religion.
