Form W-3 & M-3 W1,R?
How strict is the IRS if you file the wrong copy of W-2 with Form W-3? How strict is MA DOR if you file the wrong copy of W-2 with Form M-3 W1,R?

I am the office manager from the small company I work for & have recently taken on some new responsiblities which includes generating W-2s,ect. I have never prepared W-2s so our accountant, who is a CPA mind you, trained me how to prepared our W-2s & all relevant forms. She actually generated all everything & put it all together while I basically watched & took notes. I noticed today while I was preparing the envelopes that she did not use the correct W-2s with these forms, instead she had Copy D for Employer!
For this reason & many others I have basically taken on all bookkeeping, payroll, payroll liabilities, ect. so we no longer need to use her services.

Oh they don't like that at all. If I were you , I would get on the phone right now to these agencies and tell them what the problem is and find out how to fix it immediately. That way you can log time that you advised them. Make sure that you log the persons name, the time, and the information given to you. Make sure to follow thru.
