Help,help,help....?

I have worked for a woman doing some cleaning as a side job,it has been 1month and a half and she hasn't payed me yet,she is avoiding me,not returned my calls, and lied to me that she hasn't received the check form the apt.complex we've cleaned when I know it happend. Is there anything I could do to get my money,I'm not talking about much, only $400.Yet it's money I worked hard to get.Is there any legal actions I should take?Pls help!!!

Update:

Ps-she has a company plus the apt.complex that we have worked for has invoices marking the apt.that I have cleaned and the ones that she has done, does that help? And I'm still working for this apt.complex on my own now so if I talked to the manager could she be of any help?

It is essential that you have to create a document that you worked there and that payment has not been made. This can be achieved by letter correspondence where you make a claim for the money due. Even if no reply is received , be sending reminders quoting previous correspondence. After a month or so, send her a letter that you would initiate legal proceedings . This will work in your favour !!!

Nada. Unless you signed a contract and your hours are documented with signature - Even then you would have to take legal action which costs money. If it is a company, and I mean real company not just someone using an LLC, INC, etc without the proper paperwork you may be able to ask the state for help.

    File in small claims court.

Keep calling her, but other than small claims court theres not much that can be done that won't cost more than the $400.00 owed to collect.

    Good luck
