If there is a crack on the exuast manifold on my 94 GMC Jimmy would that make my 1,3,5 cylinders weak?

I went to smog my Jimmy and it didn't pass, to much co. Checked the EGR, Did a smoke test on the intake manifold and the tank test passed, all good. We did a cylinder test and 2,4,6 were good but 1,3,5 were not so good. Um there is a crack on the exuast manifold on the 1,3,5 side and was wondering if that would have anything to do with it. I also used that Guaranteed to pass smog formula. Any advice hope this makes sence

The crack could make your cylinders weak because not all the exhaust is leaving the cylinders properly throwing off the air fuel ratio and the compression as well. You might as well replace the exhaust manifold.

A cracked exhaust manifold will not affect a motor's compression but it will affect the emissions of the truck. This usually affects the oxygen sensor as there will be extra oxygen being allowed into exhaust so you will get a bad reading. Too rich I think.

A leak in your exhaust won't affect your cylinder compression which is what I'm guessing you are you referring to. If you have weak compression on that whole bank you have some major problems, good luck.

The cracked exh. manifold can cause cool air to touch the exh. valves & YES this can cause them to warp / bend. Then they won't seat well. To repair it you can put a rebuilt head on'er,or do it yourself. It isn't hard to tap in new guides & seat(turn) new valves. =^ )
