You need to multiply 15/1 X 3X5.
Multiply the numerators (15 and 3) to get 45.
Multiply the denominators (1 and 5) to get 5.
So now you have reduced the fraction to 45/5
Simplify it. 5 goes into 45 9 times.
9 is your answer.

I would use a LCD (lowest common denominator method) and set up the ratios so that the problem was the same as finding equal fractions. Thus...
1. 15 is the whole.
2. The other whole to compare contains 5 pieces.
3. 5 goes into 15 three times.
4. In order for the individual pieces to be "equal" in the whole of 5 to the whole of 15, you have to multiply each by 3.
5. So - 3 of 5 would be 3x3 of 5x3, or 9 of 15.
Hope this helps...

15 * 3/5 = 9
Imagine 15 as 5 groups. Each group has 3 counters. Multiply by 3 and the answer is....9!

15 is to 1 as 3 is to 5
15/1 x 3/5 then multiply
cross cancel the 15 and 5 to make it 3/1 x 3/1 so the answer is 9/1 or 9

well i don't know the proper steps they teach 5th graders but if there are 15 sets, 1/5 of 15 (15%5) is 3. which means 3/5 would be 9 (3x3)....so the answer is definitely 9 but i don't know what the proper steps are sorry :(

x/15=3/5
you would set up a porportion. x is the amount of counters in the 15 that is 3/5... get it?
