94 dodge intrepid trans question?

i have a 94 dodge intrepid with 83,000 on it. my question is that some times the trans dosent engage it will sit there and rev up. it doesnt matter if its cold or at running temp it will just do it when ever. sometimes when i cut the wheel to the right just a bit it will start to move but then not long after it dies out... what do you think?

take it and have the computer scanned on it first then see what it says about it,this should leave a code for the problem if its electrical,or in a sensor, that would be the most logical thing to do,i have seen a lot of those do that ,those cars did give problems with transmissions,if you have the computer scanned it may tell you whats going on with it,then you,ll have something to work with, good luck.

I have a 97 dodge intrepid and it did the same thing for a while especially when I would put it in reverse. It did this for months and then would start doing this while driving then slam into gear. So, from experience it gets worse if you don't check the fluid regularly and keep up on it. I was told there was a transmission fluid leak at the cooler.

your torque converter is being told by the ESM that the tranny is running too hot.. Check your sensors and even the actual esm itself! good luck
