How can I find the WEP password that is stored on my computer (Windows Vista) for a secured network?

I need the password for a network that I use so I can use another computer, but I don't have time to get it from the network administrator. From my limited understanding, it might be found somewhere in the registry; so if you can tell me how to get to the registry, that's cool too.

The password sent to the router is a hash (encoded version) of the password you type in, so finding the stored (hashed) version won't do you any good. It's really a lot faster to get it from the network administrator than to break the hash (which, even if you had a program to do, might take days on a PC).

  • Use aircrack or airsnort :)
