Is it possible to make "vanilla cocoa" powder, like you can make vanilla sugar?

I mean like when you make vanilla sugar by inserting a vanilla bean or two into a jar of sugar until it takes on the vanilla aroma and flavor.

I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing with cocoa powder, or if the vanilla beans would be too moist and sticky for the fine powder, ending up getting entirely coated with it and that's that.

Does anyone know? I've got a bunch of vanilla beans and am currently making vanilla extract and vanilla sugar. Any other ideas for my "vanillafication" project?

    Vanillafication! LOL Good word!

I dont' know about cocoa... it's so dry! If you wanted vanilla-flavored hot chocoalte, for example, I'd add powdered vanilla to the mug or pot, personally.

Why don't you make some yummy Vanilla Bean Ice Cream? Split the vanilla bean adn scrape the seeds out w/ a knife tip to add specks of vanilla and give a rich flavor.

Or Creme Brulee, Creme Anglaise, or Vanilla pudding w/ the vanilla bean specks?

You could always try it. The texture probably wouldn't matter that much if you are going to dissolve it anyway.

Also why not make some vanilla whipped cream and freeze it in little batches, ready to use when you want them.

Let the beans dry up a bit, or pat dry with a paper towel, then add to your powder.
