taxes and past due child support?

We have filed and know that child support is taking some of our taxes to pay past due child support so do they take the full amount out or is there a percentage that they take out?

Is there a way to find out exactly how much they are taking out? I know how much he owes so is that likely the amount?

This is why it's best to make arrangements and pay the child support owed, and tomake payments on arrearages. They will take all that has been reported--so maybe all, maybe just to a certain date. But they can grab ALL of the refund. If you're married and this is child support your husband owes from prior to the marriage, you can file as injured spouse toprotect your share of refund. Children deserve to be supported and loved by their parents. Pay it off, get it current and get them off your back.

If the child is not yours, and you have earned income of your own, you can file an Injured Spouse form which will separate your refund from his. This way nothing is taken out of yours to pay the child support he owes.

They take out as much as you owe in principal, but not interest or anything like that. Whatever is left over they send to you.

They will take it all if he owes more than the taxes , if not it will take longer but the balance will come to him sooner or later
