why would people use degrading terms on women such as prostitute or whore?

would you like if such terms are used on your daughters, sisters, mothers or nieces?

who gives people the right to judge women who have chosen such lifestyles without fully understanding how and why she fell into such a life?

Only men with little penises use those terms for women, regardless if that is the woman's profession or not.

I don't think that the term prostitute is degrading if that is in fact one's job. I know everyone only thinks of the drugged out street walker, but there are plenty of prostitutes out there making hundreds of dollars an hour and living quite well. If you've ever heard of a high class escort, well, that's a fancy way of saying an expensive hooker. It's also not a crime everywhere.

Whore's usually a pretty mean word though. It's often used by other women who feel the need to insult and degrade those women they believe to be beneath them. It's also the typical last words of a rejected, sexual frustrated man.

The women who live the kind of lifestyle that you're speaking of who are healthy and happy don't give a damn about the judgment of others. The only girls who are being hurt by those words are the girls who were forced into this kind of life and who have been horribly abused. Perhaps people should think about that before spewing the word "whore" at a girl who's been pimped out since she was 12.

There are all sorts of words - whore, prostitute, escort, callgirl - which effectively describe prostitutes. If someone's a prostitute, they're a prostitute.

Why do you use the term "fall into such a life"? Some quite happily choose such a life. Doesn't the word "fall" imply you're judging them? They're not all female either.

Words are what you make them. I personally don't consider the term "prostitute" degrading.

For your information I have a little penis and I don't degrade women. So there! But to answer your question I think men do this to put up a front because even though women are considered smaller and weaker they hold so much power over men and deep down they know they are nothing without women and it scares them.

Well I feel sorry for them and I agree the 2nd word is degrading, but prostitute? It's just calling it what it is. It's a degrading profession for women and I wish they didn't have to do something like that to make a living.

Those aren't degrading terms. They're job titles.

If my mother, sister, daughter, or niece were prostitutes, I would expect them to be called that.

Why do people assume men came up with them. Actually, I have heard women call other women worse things than that. Are they empowering themselves?

It is a form of control. Men will use those comments to degrade us and break down our strengths and so have contol over us. Sad but true.

my sister tried to be a prostitute. and yes i called her one for she was sinning and it was wrong.

but now she is on the right track... i didn't keep calling her that i just told her that it was wrong and she knew better.

she just had so many problems and that is how she thought she could deal with it. but she found out it wasn't the way!
