ipod classic: can I delete files in my ipod libary but still keep them on my ipod.?
Have all my music and podcasts on my laptop but im short on hard disk space. Want to keep all my files on my ipod but not laptop. Can I delete from laptop, keep on ipod but still sync new files. Don't want to do anything illegal or hack the software. thanks for all your help

Yes, you'll just have to disable auto sync.
You can select that option from clicking the iPod in the sources list. From now on you'll have to manually send music and podcasts and stuff to the iPod, but it won't notice things missing and delete them to match.
