Are my hips small?
My hips are 31 inches and my waist is 24. I heard that if a woman has small hips she may find it hard to give birth naturally. (Not that I'm pregnant or anything. Just curious).
If I ever did have children would I find it hard to give birth naturally and have to have a c-section because of my hip size?
I'm 21. :)
The feet thing sounds odd.lol.
I'm a UK size 5. :)

A midwife would be more concerned about the size of your feet, which sounds odd, but if they are small UK size 3 or smaller then I would not worry too much.
As you not pregnant dont panic and even if you have small feet, it does not mean you cant have a normal delivery, it just means they will monitor you more closely while your in labour.

I also have small hips .....it used to be common for midwives to ask your foot size as there was thought to be a connection between small feet and small hips. My hips measure about 32" (I am about a size 6 UK) and I have size 4 feet , and I have had 3 natural deliveries. It was never an issue and unless you have an unusually large baby (very big baby's can be caused by maternal diabetes) I don't think you have anything to worry about in the future.

I've got very small hips, roughly same as yours. I gave birth naturally with no complications to a 7lb 4oz baby. They say it has a lot to do with the size of your feet too, if they are small they can indicate a small gap in th pelvis, i wear size 4 shoes so again very small yet I had no problems.

Hiya You should be fine, i was a similar size to you when i had my children, my hips are only small, and as for the feet thing, they say it determines the size of your pelvis, i am size 4, i gave birth twice with normal deliveries,

You have not given your age. However a total pelvimetry is required to diagnose a contracted pelvis during pregnancy. As it is not the case now you may forget about it for the present, awaiting a further growth of your hips size in the future.

if you are very slim then they will be small, poeple who are large may only have 31 inch hips under their fat because the bones are still the same size.
i think if you've only got to worry if your shoe size is less than a size3

Hi Scarlet , firstly please permit me to point out that while one,s waist measurement is less than their hip girth (male&female),which yours most certainly is, their figure will be attractive to the opposite sex . Just thought I would mention that , please forgive the familarity,no offence intended.Everything being normal i.e., no complications ( which could happen to anyone regardless of their vital stastics) you should not experience any problems whatsoever during the, miracle of "child birth".Please stop worrying.
