It depends on why he's ex. A marriage is meant to be both BEST friends and a team, Because most divorces occur due to actions that at the very least violate the spirit of friend and team mate, then the divorce doesn't miraculously erase or nullify any of the betrayals or rotten things done while the marriage existed. Just as a person wouldn't be friends EVER with their rapist, or the person that tried to murder them. When a couple divorces, the things that were done during the marriage are just as real and true as when they were married. While it's popular today to pretend that ALL must be forgotten and forgiven, it's silly and impossible. EVERYTHING a person does, is always part of them. Generally, after a divorce, the ex should be treated as they deserve, based on their behavior during the marriage.

The best scenerio is for you to be able to treat you ex with civility and even friendship. But few have that kind of divorce.

Try to get along as much as possible if minor children are involved that is vital , I am going through this now myself. Keep the lines of communication open and honest also.

be normal with him if u have kids from him u both should have a understaning feeling coz its the question of ur kids and u both should always meet each other to see what is going between ur kids life
