rough estimate on repairs for 2000 subaru outback?

My power steering pump is out & the belt is starting to throw dust, so I think both of those need replacing.

Plus, it seems my water pump & timing belt need replacing.

Any ideas of how much this may run me?

i could propose the Subaru over the VW any day. I actually have a 1999 legacy with 180k and its purely breaking in. I had a 2002 outback in the previous and it became an excellent automobile. It became exciting to tension, have been given good mileage, and became a tank in the snow or something you would be able to desire to throw at it. i could absolutly flow with the Subaru you will get so lots extra out of it!

timing belt and water pump are USD$450. power steering pump and belt I believe should be around USD $300 (parts and labor for both)

if the car is in good shape and you plan to keep it, go ahead and replace these. If you are thinking of getting rid of it soon, get rid of it sooner rather than later

Shop around, and get a second and third opinion on your car, I have seen only on rare occasions Subbies needing new pumps. Start with fluid changes and check belts then go from there.

Probably $1000 to $1500. Not too much since it will be a long time before you'll need to do all that work again.
