The Corolla isn't a tuner's car. It's a great car to get you back & forth to school cheap! You can probably insure a Corolla for 1/2 the cost to insure the Integra.

If you can sell the corollas to buy an Integra, that may work for you....it's your money. If you want a sporty tuner car, then the Integra is great. Be careful, though, because many Integras have been beaten pretty badly because they're so cheap and fun.

There's really not much in the way of performance parts out there for a '93 to '96 rolla. It's a domino effect...change the intake and you don't get any real benefit 'til you change the heads. Change them and you don't see real benefits without a more agressive cam. Change that and you don't see real benefits without changing the exhaust. When you're done with all that you realize that the transaxle is the same one from the late 80s and can't handle that much power.

You can get good tires, maybe a coil & strut kit and have some fun (oooh! get a BIG WING on the back!) but there's only so much an old 'rolla engine is gonna do for you.

That said....since you're an inexperienced driver, I would still suggest the Corolla. It's cheaper, will get better mileage and cost less to insure.

And there's a FAR less of a chance of you wrapping yourself around a tree or telephone pole in an old Corolla.

Don't discount the Civic, either. You could START with a cheap little "beater" Civic and do the upgrades as you have time & money. Stock Civics cost about the same to run and insure as Corollas (maybe a little more to insure but not TOO bad). Many Integra parts and upgrades work on the Civic too.

Source(s): Owned and drove an '01 rolla for several years. A nice little soul-less appliance of a car. Saved my money for more important things :)

I'd go with the Integra The corolla is a pretty miserable platform to work on especially if it's your first car and you're interested in tuning. Parts are readily available for the Integra though. Intake and Exhaust are the first things you should get for it. Unless you're planning something big like a motor swap or Turbo charging. Be sure the Exhaust isn't loud and obnoxious otherwise you look like a ricer. Short shifter is a really nice thing to have in the car. Reverse Indiglo gauges also look really good in a car. I would probably get lowering springs after that alongside rims. Bodykits... eh... make sure it's tasteful, nothing to gaudy. Honda designed the car that way for a reason, you don't want to stray from it too much. A carbon fibre lip wouldn't be bad or something from a company where Hondas are their specialty like Spoon or Mugen.

If it was my car, I would install a turbo kit, Intake, and exhaust with a low dB muffler. After that, I'd install short shifter and lowering springs. I would then do a JDM ITR front end swap but that's pretty expensive and time consuming. After that carbon fibre hood and trunk and probably paint the roof black. I would either leave the stock wheels and upgrade the tires or I would get Honda wheels.
