What's a non-medicinal cure for insomnia?

This is getting out of control. I can't fall asleep in less than an hour, and some nights (like tonight) I never do. I don't like to take medications, because they give me hangovers. What can I do to deal with this? I've already tried meditation exercises, darkening my room, and dimming the lights for 30 minutes before I go to bed.

    Well I'll tell you what works for me. I have the same problem. Insomnia usually happens when our minds don't want to shut down for the night. We keep thinking about things and thus can't sleep. Stop using the Computer or the TV one hour before you want to sleep. Because that is very stimulating to the mind. Take a very warm, long bath with only Candle Light and maybe soft music playing in the background. Close your eyes and try to relax every muscle in your body. And then get into bed with a book (the more boring the better) and read until you get sleepy. The natural herbal over the counter remedies do not work, I've tried all of them. They may relax you, but not let you sleep. When you are trying to sleep, have a distraction in the background like a fan on because the noise will give you something to sooth your mind.     You have to believe and ask god for help.I had that problem once. I asked my archangel to protect me and bless my bed before I go to sleep it actually helps. but i have a question for you? Hows the begining of my new book? the title is living corrupted from the start...........................................

    The life I was circulated was corrupt from the beginning of age four. There was nowhere to run from the commence .The inside of my house was full of conflict and the neighborhood was one-step from Satan’s grasp. Clementine was an apartment complex mixed with 35 percent good people and 65 percent bad people. The madhouse I lived in withheld but barely contained eight individuals. The four roomed roach and mice infested repugnant home was shelter for my younger sister, cousin ugly, grandma I really do not recall my life from the steamy impetuous day I was born on July 28, 1985 until I overtook the age four, the outset of reckoning and dilemma in my life. My grandma was showing me porn; fights broke out in the house continuously, and shots were heard every night. The situation took a toile on me early; I did not know what to do. I was the type of kid who stayed to his self the quiet type. I was not taught much in the beginning of my life, the household was busy doing there own thing. My grandma was somewhat religious and prayed a lot. My mom was not there much for my sister and me so my grandma raised us. My uncles’ dick and wood sold drugs out the house, and hawk was an extravagant artist and a deniable thief.

    just make yourself a dessert using poppy seeds.....plenty of sleep ahead believe me...

    dont do poppy seeds (they contain opium) use valerian root. its a (duh) plant root that supposedly makes it easier to sleep
