I have a question related to the BMW M6.?
I was in Germany to meet my High School buddy he lives just out side Lübeck, so when I told him that I want to drive something fast on the Autobahn when I get there, he rented a BMW M6, he himself owns a Mercedes G550 (not very fast is it), now to my common knowledge the M6 is electronically limited at 155 mph or 250 kmph, so the next day we drove the car down the Autobahn, at first I was not particularly excited because in my knowledge the limiter would kick in at 250 kmph and I had attained much higher speeds in my own country (202 mph or 325 kmph to be exact), at the pump while my friend was refueling I took a look in to the I-Drive and there were three options for how much horsepower you are looking for and they are, 400 bhp, 500 bhp and for some reason 500 sport, so I chose the 500 Sport got down on the main straight and started to accelerate and was looking at the H.U.D, got to 230 kmph with ease and then something really shocking happened ...
.... I got to 250 kmph (155 mph) and it kept going I thought maybe 270 kmph but it did not and before I knew it, I was going over 300 kmph (186 mph) and it the realy surpise came when it 320 kmph (200 mph) but still kept going till it finally came to a stop at 330 kmph (205), got back to Kuwait 4 days ago and tried the same test here, I rented a BMW M6 and took it down the freeway and in typical german fashion it stopped at 250 kmph (155mph).
so my question is that, are the BMW, Mercedes and Audi sold in Germany and a few neighboring countries sold with out limiters and the rental my friend used only specialises in stock BMW cars.

Yes, this applies to all cars, not only BMWs. Cars in Europe are known to have higher speed limiters than say, the US. In fact, I believe the US is probably one for the few countries that insist on car companies having speed limiters set to just 155mph. People used to joke around to say that the reason is because they wanted to make sure their police cars can catch up to you... LOL.
You can however always pay someone to reprogram your car to remove the speed limiter. And if for M6 owners (I know you said you only rented one), the cost would be nothing...

Absolutely, the country where the car is being exported to makes the difference as far as how it performs as well as how it is equipped (options sometimes are added or deleted depending on area). I.E. american cars are sometimes not available here anymore but are abroad especially in the middle east and have no emissions related equipment. I can 100% see the m6 have the ability to go beyond a speed where in another country it would be governed. This theory would also be backed up if you picked up a foreign country's automobile magazine and checked it's specs versus another country's magazine with a different top speed shown.
