How can I record live TV on my iPod Touch?
Is there a gadget I can buy to accept either composite or component signal from my cable box so that I can record some shows for the road in my iPod touch?
1 AnswerTiVO & DVRs1 decade agoWhere can I find Canadian Malpaque oysters in Houston?
These are delicious Canadian oysters.
Are you aware of any oyster bars or seafood suppliers having this in the Houston area?
I've only found it in Central Market... at $1.69ea (pricey)... would love to find it either served at a restaurant or a cheaper source.
I used to have them in an oyster bar in Montreal for just C$7 per dozen... shucked and served on a plate...
3 AnswersHouston1 decade agoWhich window tint has the best heat rejection yet high VLT?
What is currently the best automotive window tint film in the market that offers the highest heat rejection figures yet high visible light transmittance (ie; light tint)? I'm looking for one with 60% or higher VLT.
Please include figures in your answer.
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoXM and iPod interface for 2008 Mazda MX-5?
I need an iPod interface (and if possible) an XM radio interface to a 2008 MX-5. What is the best solution out there without spending a bomb? Is there an XM-direct solution available?
Conditions:
1. I do not want to change out the factory radio.
2. I do not want to use any kind of FM transmitters or have the signal piped in through my FM radio.
3. I do not want to do any major modifications other than adding a simple "box".
There is a $150 dealer interface for the iPod which I'm currently considering. I also want to hear from people who've used this dealer-supplied interface; such as - whether it will display the song titles on the main display, how is the sound quality, is the installation easy (if you DIY-ed it), will the steering wheel control allow you to change songs on the iPod..etc

It makes driving so rough compared to other places where Asphalt (tar) is used.
9 AnswersHouston1 decade agoShould I be worried about possible lead contamination if a cup or a bowl gets unusually hot when microwaved?
I have a few ceramic cups and bowls that seem to become VERY hot (hotter than the food/drink that it holds) after being zapped in the microwave.
Does this mean they have high lead content and should I be worried about using them?

3 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoOn a warm, dry and clean racetrack, can a RWD car possibly beat an AWD car in a race?
...assuming both cars have approximately equal weight and power and that the race track has a good number of turns. If yes, why? If not, then why do popular motorsports (F-1..etc) only allow RWD?
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoE46 rear subframe separation/failure. Have you have heard of it, and how was it resolved?
This seems to be a common problem for E36 cars, and now starting to happen to E46. If you or someone you know had this problem, how was it resolved? Did BMW NA cover the (very expensive) repairs?
3 AnswersBMW1 decade agoWhere is the E46 cell phone (steering wheel button) pre-wire connector located?
I'm trying to retrofit my own Bluetooth kit to my 2000 323ci. I just need to find out where that phone button on the steering wheel links to... any ideas? I presume at some location where the BMW phone kit can be simply plugged in. But where?
3 AnswersBMW1 decade ago1995 BMW 318ti idling rpm drops to 500, engine shudders then recovers everytime the electric fan comes on.?
Here's one I need your help in... my trusty 1995 318ti runs well, just hit the 88,888 mile mark today - not bad for a 12 year old car.
But during idle, when the fan starts either because of the AC or the water temperature, the engine idling speed drops to about 500rpm, the engine shakes, the lights dim, then recovers back to 800rpm. Any thoughts?
7 AnswersBMW1 decade agoWhat are the effects or symptoms of having insufficient ATF?
I just changed out my ATF. I know my car has a capacity of 6.2 liters, but only 4 liters could go back in. It is possible that not all 6.2 liters drained out because I did not measure the old ATF coming out.
So I want to know if driving with insufficient ATF could cause any problems.
I also read that overfilling ATF is really bad. So I don't want to force more ATF in (by parking on an incline to fill up). Instead, if there're no negative side effects of having insufficient ATF, I'd rather wait and see.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoSuggestions on a quick "city tour" during 9+ hour layover in Seoul Airport?
I'll be stuck in a 9+ hour layover in Seoul in late August. I have never been to Korea, and I'm interested to hear from you on what to do, where to go, what to eat and how do I do all that.
I know the airport is a distance away from the city, any easy transport? Language barriers (is English widely understood)? Do they run city tours from the airport for passengers (like they do in Singapore)?
Having not much time, I would feel more comfortable in something organized rather than running out on my own, but if I can't find an organized tour, I would do it anyway.
The longer and more detailed your answer, the better!
2 AnswersKorea1 decade agoWill XM radio work in South East Asia - even for a few hours a day?
Does anyone have any experience traveling with their XM radios overseas? I heard some people say XM might work a few hours a day depending if the satellites happen to fly to a spot that is line-of-site to Asia, but because it is always in motion concentrating in US-coverage, it may only last a couple hours or so. Anyone here ever personally tried this?
3 AnswersOther - Electronics1 decade agoWhere can I find a car stereo that plays mp3/wma and displays Korean/Chinese/Japanese tag information?
I listen to English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese mp3/wma songs. But I'm frustrated that my $50 Sandisk Sansa player can display all my song info, and yet nothing in the car (that I know of) will do it. Besides having to fly to Hong Kong or trying to get someone to send me one from there, where can I buy a car stereo that is able to do this in the US?

I'm looking for a place where they actually let you peer through the telescopes. I would think some (actual working) observatories would offer this... but I am not familiar with any. I'm trying to organize a small group event for about 10 people.
3 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoTomTom Go GPS (US version) - Any Verizon Wireless customers got their TomTom Traffic to work?
I just purchased a TomTom Go 510 GPS. I was only informed after the fact by TomTom tech support that TomTom Traffic (via cellphone bluetooth connection) would not work with the Verizon Wireless network. I find this quite hard to believe, especially the fact that they did not disclose this info on their product itself. I you are a Verizon Wireless customer and got your TomTom traffic to work through your cellphone, please tell me step-by-step how you did it. Thanks!!
