Baking help........?

I'm not a baker, but I was given a new KitchenAid Mixmaster. What would be the first thing you would make with it?

Update:

I bake well, just isn't what I do the most. Really am just looking for some interesting recipes.

Try an easy chocolate chip cookie recipe or try these:

    Peanut Butter Surprise

    Makes 36.

    1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature

    1 cup packed light-brown sugar

    2 large eggs

    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup granulated sugar, for rolling dough

36 mini peanut butter cups, chilled and unwrapped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using an electric mixer, cream peanut butter and butter in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add brown sugar; beat until combined, scraping down bowl as needed. Add eggs and vanilla, and beat until incorporated.

In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. With mixer on low speed, gradually beat in flour mixture in two batches.

Scoop off dough by the tablespoon; roll into balls. Place granulated sugar on a plate; roll balls in sugar, coating completely. Place 2 inches apart on a nonstick insulated baking sheet.

Bake until cookies begin to puff up slightly, about 7 minutes. Remove from oven. Press one peanut butter cup in center of each cookie. Return to oven; continue baking until cookies are golden brown and chocolate has begun to melt, about 6 minutes more. Let cool at least 10 minutes on baking sheet before transferring cookies to rack to cool completely.

I did cookies first. Once I saw how much less you need to mix, then I went on to cakes and everything else after that. I love my KA mixer.

Edit: Here is a recipe for one of my favorite cookies! They melt deliciously in your mouth.

    Tea Cakes

    1 c (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

    3 c confectioners sugar

    1 t vanilla

    2 1/4 c all-purpose flour

    3/4 c very finely chopped pecans (2 1/2 oz)

    3/4 t salt

Beat together butter and 1/2 cup confectioners sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer at moderately high speed until pale and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Beat in vanilla, then add flour, pecans, and salt and mix at low speed until just combined. Chill, covered, at least 6 hours.

    Preheat oven to 375°F.

Let dough stand at room temperature until just pliable, about 15 minutes. Roll level teaspoons of dough into 3/4-inch balls and arrange about 2 inches apart on lightly buttered large baking sheets.

Sift remaining 2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar into a large shallow bowl.

Bake in batches in middle of oven until bottoms are pale golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Immediately transfer hot cookies to confectioners sugar, gently rolling to coat well, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.

Roll cookies in confectioners sugar again when cooled.

    Makes about 6 dozen cookies.

I would make something simple, like cookies....if you want something REALLY easy, buy some whipping cream and whip it in there....though I guess thats not so much fun. I would make cookies or cake, you can make basic sugar cookies, they are super easy, or you can look on the pillsbury website www.pillsbury.com I have old cook book of theirs, it is fool proof! Good luck, and happy baking, I'm so jealous, those mixers are fancy and $$$$$$$!!!!!!

I don't know why everyone seems to think cookies are easy... there is an art to a perfect cookie. Baking in general is an art when done correctly... go for a cake.

Oh Lucky!!! I want one so bad.

I would make the Peanut Butter Surprise that someone listed, that sounds really good. Or a banana bread..that's always good too.

    Good luck!
