Where is it defined who or what an infidel is?

Where is it defined that Americans and others are infidels ?

The Koran is available on the web. My review has not found a reference to describe who or what an infidel is, much less that it is American or Brittish. Would someone please enlighten me where it is written for all to see? If the terorist activities are based upon the Muslim beliefs, where are the defining factors?

In Christian beliefs, killing ones self can be considered murder in God's eyes, so a person with a bomb intentionally setting it off would be an act of murder rather than the great sacrifice for the Muslim community. For those who believe in Christianity, the poor souls who kill themselves to harm or kill others are damning themselves having commited a crime against God.

Would someone please explain why the Muslim faith believes in such travisty?

I believe in understanding the facts before reaching a conclusion. I truely would like to know and understand the reasoning behind all the killing.

Update:

If all infidels are not Muslim, where are the missionaries to convert people to their beliefs rather than destroyers of believers and non-believers?

Radicals have influence mamy in the past, so why are the radicals so strong in their belief that they are willing to kill others for it today?

Why ask the question? For my own understanding of the facts and truths. If I meet a terrorist bomber some day, I want to know what to say to him/her about their beliefs as they contrast my own.

I believe Having attempted to discuss it with the bomber and declaring my Chistian faith, then dieing as a result of the terrorist; Iwould be granted residence with God for my faith.

in the muslim belief, killing oneself is infidelity.but according to people who are defending their country such as palestinians who set off a self bomb among israelis for instance, its martyrdom.as they are dying while defending their honour and land, its not mainly based on islamic beliefs, its the universal belief of sacrificing for the bigger cause, and in this case, freeing your homeland is bigger than you own life.exactly like soldiers who enroll in the army to defend their country, and if they die in action they are considered war heroes, why is there a difference?these soldiers know there is a great chance for them to die during the war,so does that make them suicidals or murderers of themselves?on the other hand, people who set off bombs among civilians like what happens in iraq or any other country, blowing off embassies and airports, this is not a right path of islam,at least according to the moderate muslims.and islam, like any other religion, has followers who take matters to extremes and then the blame goes back to the main concept, even though it has nothing to do with the extreme actions and practices of such followers.and i really want to stress on the fact that there is no script or part of the islamic religion that urges the muslims to kill the non-muslims(the infidels).the islamic religion is to be spread by kind words and logical persuasion and discussion.and again the fact that some extremists tend to try to spread it by force, doesnt mean that that was the regulation or guideline provided by the main islamic mentor prophet Muhamad peace be upon him.and there is nothing that says the Americans or the British are infidels,we are all to live in peace together and muslims are to spread islam in a peaceful, cultured and logical respectable manner, without any offence to any other religion or belief.and to make the picture clearer for you,id like you to know that during the time of prophet Muhamad (pbuh) whenever there was a war or a battle,he'd order his soldiers and commanders not to hurt children, women or old people.and never to destroy a house or synagog or church or any place of worship.and whenever there were war captives they were to be treated with respect and care.but then again the fact that some muslims do not follow these guidlines accurately, isnt a fault of the islamic religion itself.as a matter of fact,a part of being a muslim is to believe in all messengers and holy books, starting from Adam till Christ who was the last prophet before prophet Muhamad, and muslims are not to demean or offend the other religions or prophets.as for the reason behind the anger towards the "British" or the "Americans",it is that on one hand, they are sending out their soldiers who are killing people in afganistan and iraq, civilians who are claimed to be linked to terrorists, even though the main "reason" for them to start this war was that the fact that there were weapons of mass destruction or nuclear weapons or wtvr there, which by the way have not been discovered yet.on the other hand, the British & American governments support israel and its acts of violence and mass murders in palestine, lebanon & syria.so,i hope i gave you a clearer picture about what you wanted to know, and if you have any further inquiries feel free to contact me.i hope i was of help to you.have a good one

    Define Travisty

    It's defined in the dictionary.

I'm an infidel. I have no problem with that. Not in the least.

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/infidel

Regarding the Muslims terrorists, they are extremists. Any religious extremist can become dangerous and generally the majority of that extremists religions followers don't agree with the extremists actions.

The killings throughout history, done by most major religions, were for the purpose of furthering their agenda = expanding their church. It was wrong then and it's still wrong now.

We define Islam upon the contents of the Qur'an and the Sahih Hadiths and the background of Islam. those are rather lots the Islamic Scriptures. we don't label the Muslims as "Extremist" or "average", because of the fact all of us understand that there is not any such component as a average Muslim. that's the artwork of the Liberals, their workstation Brigades and Apologists who're continuously searching for undemanding the thank you to help the Muslims. Please take up your grouse with them. .

An infidel is a non-believer. "Infidel" is one translation of the Arabic word for non-believer, i.e. non-Muslim.
