Converting Trial users to paying customers???
I need some help. I own a piece of software that monitors computer time usage. Our website gets lots of traffic and lots of downloads, but, i'm having a hard time converting trial users to customers. Any suggestions?
I should add that all users can download a free demo version that last 5 days, after that they have to register the software and pay for it. The problem I'm having is that for every 1000 hits I get about 200 downloads, out of those I'm getting 4 or 5 sales. How can I improve that number?

Please don't think that I'm trying to promote my software by posting the website, I just need some good business advise and I know you would need to see the product before giving educated advise.
For every 200 downloads I'm getting about 1000 visitors to the website. Out of those 200 download I get 4-5 sales. I think the standard is 2-3% of visitors buy. I converting about .4-.5% into sales if we are looking at visitors to sale ratio.

Since this is the first time I've heard of this software, I've been to your site and I can see why you'd get the hits. If you do not already have endorsements from influential family magazines such as Parents Magazine, you should pitch the software to them and to other family-oriented magazines. Endorsements from them could assist in making your software a household name. In addition, you could do with more search engine optimization (SEO). I just did a search on "childtimer" and the first 20 or so hits were for a daycare center called childtime. Notable is the fact that a search for "childtimer" brought up your software on bit torrent download links and some include the crack for the product. Ergo, free product and no sale to you. I'm not a genius re marketing but do hope that this has provided you with some useful info. Good Luck!!
