R&S user with the name Star: Why can we not view the question about denominations and cults?

Update:

I would have emailed you directly, but you do not allow.

I would have made you a contact but you do not allow.

Update 2:

prairiecrow: I bet you are right. I would not agree that Mormons, JWs, Seventh-day Adventists, Oneness Pentecostals are non-Christian cults. And to call them non-Christian is an abuse of language. And that the theological test used is not universally recognized.

I do not mind being blocked; that is any users right. But I think I will stand by what I said.

Update 3:

I was just curious what others may have answered.

Update 4:

Jessica: Thank you for quoting the question.

I am aware that it is popular among certain Christian groups to make a distinction between Christian denominations and "non-Christian" "cults." And I am aware that there is books of Christian apologetic that use that theological test. I have no problem with criticizing any group on theological grounds. But it worries me when the term "cult" is bandied about. It is such a loaded term, and I am very much afraid that this term could be used to excuse descrimination.

Update 5:

In the interest of full discloser: I was raised a Seventh-day Adventist, but I have not been a member of that Church since 1982. I do not consider myself a Christian in any doctrinal sense.

Most of my family are still Adventist, and most if not all are Christians in any meaningful sense of that word.

Update 6:

FYI: Oneness Pentecostals believe in baptism in the name of Jesus only. Where Unitarian-Universalists are Father unitarians, Oneness Pentecostals are Jesus unitarians. For fun, Google the phrase "Gliggy Bluk".

    I bet she blocked you.

    Here is the question:

There are many non-Christian cults and many Christian denominations. By theological definition, Christian denominations are ones who agree on “the fundamentals of the faith” such as: the deity of Jesus, the Trinity, the bodily Resurrection of Jesus, salvation by grace not works, the finished work of Christ on the cross, and that the Bible is the infallible, authoritative Word of God. A non-Christian cult is defined as a group that distorts these fundamental doctrines in their teaching and theology. Most people find it hard to tell the difference. I’m wondering how many R&S regulars know the difference. Of the following list of prominent groups, which do you think are non-Christian cults and which are Christian denominations?

    1. Baptists

    2. Mormons

    3. Christian Science

    4. Methodists

    5. Lutherans

    6. Jehovah's Witnesses

    7. Oneness Pentecostal

    8. Presbyterian

    9. Unitarian Universalists

    10. Seventh Day Adventists

The source of the definitions comes from several Christian Apologetic resources. One excellent resource is the book, "So What's The Difference?" which gives a side-by-side reference chart of prominent groups and what they believe.

That person might have you blocked. If so, there's nothing you can do except ask yourself what you might have said that would make them NOT want you to comment on any of their questions, or to add them as a Contact, or to contact them at all.
