What are yours beliefs and opinions in the Pentecostal religion?

Hello and PRAISE THE LORD... I am an apostolic pentecostal. Listen.... Follow GOD not men.... My church does not get all frothy at the mouth and as of yet i have never seen anyone roll on the ground... sometimes someone will yell or run the isles... that is pretty normal and not over the top any more than clapping or shouting AMEN.... I think that you should ONLY do what you are CONVICTED BY GOD ( not a pastor) to do.. if you read something in the Bible and then find it on your mind or are instantly convicted, pray about it and seeks GODs direction. If you trust the pastor you can ask him or his wife questions or ANOTHER older woman in church whom you admire.... I strongly urge you to not get caught up in ANY church that tells you that you are going to hell if you wear pants or if you watch tv, or if you stop going to their church. members don't sign that paper affirming they will not have a television in the house, MINISTERS do. I think that those in the apostolic or pentecostal faith that are caught up in having a clean cup on the outside are doing themselves and those they judge a great harm. The bible says that for the outside to be clean the inside has to be. you can put on an act and pretend to love God and have a spotless reputation and "appearance" but god doesn't look on the outside alone.... He judges the heart. Now, I am so very glad you posted this question! I have been in this thing for many years and I questioned so many things and even at times felt like I was being cooerced from the pulpit and finally had to seek help from an elderly woman who gave me some of her strength through fellowship and prayer. She was plain and outspoken and she did things to please the Lord no matter WHAT the pastor thought and she knew he was displeased with her but she kept on the straight and narrow paid her tithes, attended regularly, but continued her.. um... abnormal outreach style ( she was 76 and still the most fiesty thing I ever saw). She was that churches founding pastors wife. And she was also a Lady Preacher. She was not afraid to do what she thought was right in the sight of the Lord according to His scriptures and neither should you be. you are free to contact me on my email and maybe even on phone if you need some encouragement to just be yourself and let God guide you, not the whims of public opinion! Pentecostal Religion Beliefs

My friend I am a member of a Baptist Church. I believe there will be all types of Christians in heaven. I have also attended many Pentecostal Churches in my life time. I have seen many different things such as Slane in the Spirit, Speaking in Tougues, Runner up and down the isle of the church. Jumping pews. Walking on the pews. I can only say, I don't really understand all about all that. But they must feel good doing it. I am not going to say they are not under the Holy Ghost when they do it. It would scare me to say that and they actually were. As far as speaking in tongues. I believe there is a difference in Speaking in tongues and Praying in tongues. If a person is speaking in tongues and there is no interpreter, they need to read the word of God to find out they are wrong. If they are praying in tongues in silently or in a low voice. Hey, that is between them and God.

Far as Pentecostal Churches being a bad church..... Hey there are some bad Baptist churches out their I'm sure!

I have gone to an Assemblies of God church for a while, although I'm starting to attend a church in my hometown that is not AOG.

The verses about the clothing are from the scriptures. Some PEntecostal churches get caught up in avoiding worldliness and expect women to dress modestly. I Timothy 11 appears to have some relevant scriptures to this subject.

As far as the various ways to express the power of the holy spirit, I have mixed feelings on this. It's very easy to get caught up in the emotionalism and to mistake that expression as being from a person who is more "spiritual" than another Christian. What it means instead is that a person is willing to yield themselves to the Power of the Holy Spirit.

don't follow Pentecostalism, follow Jesus. Do whatever you feel will help you follow His teachings better. Read and obey Matt 5 - 7. i believe in what ever helps me follow GOD's ways so i believe that yelling in tongues isn't right in church if it can't be translated i think it's 1 cor 13 read it. 1. Know your Bible 2. follow what you believe but never stop learning if it doesn't feel right get some more knowledge on the subject ask catholics, Pentecostals, Jews, Jews for Jesus, ask/ seek and you shall find... if having no jewelry will help you be a follower of Christ then don't wear any... message me back if i helped at all sorry if it seemed incoherent I'm typing really fast GOD bless

They will try to take over every part of your life...very judgemental and domineering group. It will do nothing but cause strife in your home life. Will divide the family, believers against non-believers. It's subtle but it's there. Raised in it. Got out as quick as I could. Remember thinking as s child "how can these people be so brainwashed".

I've attended a few of these types of churches and thought they were amazing. However the problem with them is first they allow their pastors to have way too much authority over their church and I've seen too many loose their way because of this authority; and second, because so much of the service is based on getting people excited for God, too often wolves come in and take advantage of the innocent folk.

Feelings are fickle; do not base your faith on them. In good times and bad God is there and will never forsake you. Just keep these words in mind. God bless!
