Illegals getting money from stimulus package????

Why are they rewarding illegals with our tax money??? Doesn't giving them free money just encourage more illegals to come here???? I am totally disgusted!

Well only tax payers are getting the money, so yeah it's their tax money too! It is estimated that approx 70% of illegals pay taxes anyway.

BTW definition of what is a resident alien in this article is an over simplification. Being classified as a resident by immigration & by IRS are two totally different things. According to immigration a resident alien is a green card holder. A person can be here legally on a visa for many years (even decades) without being classified as a resident; they are referred to as a guest worker.

For tax purposes being classified as a resident is totally different thing. This has to do with physical presence. Nothing to do with immigration or citizenship status. Like do you pay taxes in a particular state. A US citizen is considered non resident in other states from where they live so don't pay taxes there generally speaking. An immigrant can be considered a non resident by immigration & a resident by IRS i.e. none of the rights associated with being a resident but the obligation of paying tax. FACT.

No. Legal residents and citizens are being laid off left and right. This is wrong. Illegals should not benefit from the stimulus and they should not have taken off that clause in the legislation--that job seekers must produce their residency. Actually, the opinion posted in the question is late--the original event was in March. I went and checked on it and actually only about 15% of construction jobs are held by illegals. So it is not as serious as the article in this question puts it. But they took out the use of an electronic system that would allow employers to check to see if the person was illegal or not. This can be done but probably the employers didn't want it so that they could still hire illegals for cheaper wages. Also much of their money does go back to their country. Many illegal men working in construction, live 10 people in a room. They do not have a big rent to pay since it is split among them. This is a big mistake. This is going to come back and haunt us as a nation. Our factories have been shipped over to Mexico and China, our telecommunications outsourced to India--all the lower wage jobs are being given to illegal immigrants. What is left for legal residents and citizens? Only 15% of the USA population has a college degree. Everyone cannot be a professional. Corporations have laid off thousands of people. Who is going to hire Americans?

Only those illegals who have been assigned an Individual Tax Identification Number that allows them to file income taxes would be eligible. Resident aliens are defined as people who spend a "substantial" amount of time in the U.S. and have not been deported.

did you read the whole thing or just the top line... ?? I have a problem with the whole they're illegal aliens but theyre legal enough to pay taxes.. doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me.. if theyre paying taxes doesnt that make them technically legal???

I think it's just the IRS's way of trying to update it's databases of who's who, because, operating as an autonomous strong arm of the government they don't play nice and share information with other government agencies (unless you're the much less than ethical president needing to crush someone).

I would like ask how is the IRS going to know who has been deported. This would explain why Congress right now has the lowest approval rating last I heard it was like 18% they do just the opposite of what Americans want.
