Has a captain ever got traded midseason right before the trade deadline?

He went 2 days before the deadline with Schneider and

Craig Darby, in exchange for Vlad Malakhov and Pierre

Turgeon, who would eventually captain the Habs himself.

Dallas Drake wore the C for St. Louis before getting traded to the Wings. It during the off season though. You think the captain of a team would be better though..I mean hes got like 3 points right now on the Wings.

I'm not sure but I don't think Thornton was a captain at the time. I think he was an alternate captain.

Hopefully Marleau will get traded this year, because Thornton is definitely the captain of the Sharks now...Marleau only got that title by default because there was no one else to give it to..He was a good player with a good work ethic, but I don't think he leads and motivates his team like Thornton...

I might be wrong, but when the Bruins and Rangers did their Esposito / Ratelle trade, I believe one of them - if not both - were the captain of their old squad. Others involved were Brad Park and perhaps Rick Middleton.

Joe Thornton got traded to the San jose Sharks

Thornton got traded from the Bruins to the Sharks in exhange for Sturm, Primeau and Stuart.

Mattias Norstrom got traded to dallas for Jaroslav Modry

Last year Mattias Norstrom was traded from LA to dallas

I think Wendell Clark was captain when he was traded to the Nordiques for Sundin. I don't think that was at the deadline either....LITY would remember.
