Has anybody seen cars driving around with an aluminum rack holding a device with 8 cameras?

In my neighborhood I've seen a couple different cars with this odd device which also included what appears to be a mini-satellite dish. The cameras themselves are in a red octagonal housing leaving on the lens visible. One of the cars had a Google Maps logo on it. Is it possible that these cars are driving around taking pictures of our houses and buildings and uploading them onto Google Earth?

The final substantial oil discover strengthen into in 1968, and because then they have stumbled on a splash right here, a splash there, yet for each barrel they discovered, 8 had already been used. they have spent hundreds of thousands attempting to discover greater of the stuff, and there aint none. What we've been given is all we've left. And whilst some thing gets rarer, the cost is going up, for this reason the upward thrust interior the cost of oil. Biofuel isn't the respond given which you could desire to take the finished grain vegetation of each and every of the international, turn it into biofuel and it does no longer furnish greater beneficial than 20% of each and every of the oil we use in transportation. and then what might you devour? what's greater substantial, one tankful of biofuel or a years furnish of bread? except they have have been given greater funds than invoice Gates, fairly quickly they gained't be able to have adequate funds to refill the tanks of those fancy autos. What use will they be then?

Yes, that's exactly what they're doing.

If you go to Google maps and select any major city, the normal "Map", "Satellite" & "Terrain" buttons on the map will be joined by one that says "Street View". If you click on it, then click on any street outlined in blue, you'll get a photo of the street. You can "virtually walk" along the street, turn round and look in different directions, it's pretty cool.

Yes it is Google Maps. in more popular areas they have the "street view" option (NYC is a great example) where you can view the area as if you are standing on the street.

They have to get their info one way or another. If you have ever done mapquest, you know that you need both a map as well as mapquest directions, because mapquest is so far off on things! When I get mapquest directions, I take them with a BIG grain of salt.

It's probably Google's wireless network mappers. I think it was Google, or an agency contracted by Google, that is going around mapping wireless network activity and interference in neighborhoods.
