What do u think about sharapova becoming one of the greatest of all time?

Update:

aah some of u r misunderstanding me, im saw this article about her becomin the greatest so i wanted to know your thoughts, so dont say im the one with the problem ok.

and second, to teh person who said she has to win over 24 slams and 377 consecutive weeks of #1, well u dont have to break the top record to be one of the greatest sheesh. Martina and justine only had to win 5 to be considered among te greatest with justine winning more tho so yeh its not about breaking the top record, gosh ur so out

I don't think we can call her that.. .yet! I would put Steffy Graf in that catagory, or Martina Navratilova (sp?) But, Maria has quite a bunch of obstacles constantly thrown at her, and she surmounts them every time with grace. I love her, and hope she gets to reach that title. Federer, on the other hand, has already surpassed the lable "greatest of all time".

Winning all 4 slams would be a very nice accomplishment, but that would still only give her 4 career Grand Slam victories. She would have quite a way to go to join these all-time greats:

    1. (24) Margaret Smith Court

    2. (22) Steffi Graf

    3. (19) Helen Wills Moody

    4. (18) Chris Evert

    4. (18) Martina Navratilova

    6. (12) Billie Jean King

Well first of all she has not yet won the French. So when she wins a Career Slam, the Golden Slam, has over 24 Grand Slam titles to her name, and has spent more than 377 weeks at number 1, then I will start thinking of her as the greatest.

Its a little too soon to call her the greatest of all time. She has a long way to go before she breaks Graf's record of 22 slams or courts record of 24.

yeah i think it would be over-zealous to suggest that at this juncture. but having said that, the standards have also changed in tennis as there is no one person dominating and the girls below the top 10 are vying for wins against top ranked opponents. so it would be really difficult to win double numbers like martina. i think once you get to 8 as serena,in this age,i would definitely put the player into that category.

She's certainly the best of her generation, which I define as 24 y.o. and under, as evidenced by her 3 grand slam titles. I wouldn't call her one of the greatest of all time though, at least not yet. She would have to win at least another 5 grand slam titles to be considered among the greatest.

  • I think it's a little early for her to be considered one of the greatest of all time. I will say she is one of the best of her era, but we should let another 10 years go by before we call her one the bets of all time.

Shes to little and skinny, pretty though, but I believe she is in over her head. been lucky so far though.
