Is there a plastic gas pipe that can be used for residential applications ?

I'm installing a washer/gas-dryer combo unit in an existing room closet.

Underneath the house is a galvanized gas pipe which was used to feed an old space heater above the floor. The gas pipe is approx. 8 feet from where I want to install the washer/dryer unit.

I heard there is a plastic gas pipe they use for residential homes, now. Is this true ?

I would like to couple the plastic gas pipe to the existing galvanized pipe.

    Plastic Gas Line

There is in fact no plastic pipe similar to the common rigid PVC pipe for your use. The specialized flex pipe (such as the gastite referenced above) does in fact require specialized training and a license to install it. See, for instance, the following article for what it looks like http://www.fireengineering.com/display_article/314...

Conclusion: make your live easy and hire a professional to solve your small problem. The plumber can easily cut black steel pipe to size, thread it where needed, install it through the floor, bring it up and terminate it with a valve. It will be done in a jiffy.

Yes, there is plastic gas piping. Problem is, you need to be licensed to buy and install it. The connectors are seperate and require a special tool to secure them to the piping. I also believe this piping is only for use up to the homes foundation, not inside.

there is NO plastic piping available for gas usage inside the home! there is a product called Gastite or Titeflex, but you need to be certified to buy them and install them they are corrugated stainless steel pipes. Best suggestion would be to call a plumber or heating contractor to install the line for you
