Why dont religions understand each other? to agonistic belivers?

I have catholic cousins, mormon cousins, christian friends, wiccan friends, jewish friends, atheist friends, and a friend that studied hindu. All of these people are discusted by the mention of any other religion and imideiatly curl there noses and say how wrong they are. they belive that all other religions (or lack of) will go to hell or are completly stupid. i was discussing this with my mom and she agrees that if every religion believes that they are the only true religion, and the only 100 percent true religion not derived off of any other religion is jewdism located around the middle east. so if they all belive this, than 95% of the world is going to hell.

so my question is why dont people realize that people in other religions belive that they are the only right religion?

I know the spelling is bad but i didnt have time to spell check

thankx

i know, it's insane. i see it as there being many paths. all the paths lead to the same place. some people believe their path is the only one that leads to that place. others can understand that everyone has their own way that works for them. why can't people understand that, rather then insisting theirs are the best?

I guess I sound just like many religious people when I say I think all religions are off the mark. If there is a God or Gods, I doubt anyone is even close to understanding what God is or what God thinks. And I don't think anyone is going to hell. In my opinion, hell is a creation to scare people into their religion or to outcast people that don't agree with a groups religion.

Hinduism does not believe this. The Bhagavad Gita has Krshna saying all Gods that men worship are the one God.

Many religious beliefs require a high degree of unquestioned faith. When you're that sure you have the right answer, it's not conducive to understanding and tolerating opposing viewpoints.

That is an excellent question! One I ask all the time. If Christians believe in one God, Jesus is their savior.....same Bible, then what is the problem??????

Come on Christians, explain this to us?

One simple word: ignorance. Everyone wants to believe that they are the best, and everyone else is just jealous.

    It's human nature.
