Canon Xti replace battery message after some weeks?

After a canon Xti has been bought about two weeks ago, the camera only takes some pictures before the message "replace battery" appears on the screen and the shutter button doesn't work. Could the batery be problem? Could it be the CF card (from a older canon powershot). Could it be both the problem?

After charging the battery completely, the camera works but as I said, only for a short time.

The CF card could not be the problem - most likely, you have a bad battery. Do you have another battery that you can use to test the camera? If the problem persist with the new battery, then the camera could be a problem...you should then contact Canon about warranty service.

You should be able to shoot hundreds of pictures with one charge. It sounds like the battery or the charger is bad. Take it back to the shop if you can. Otherwise, time to call Canon.
