yes before bootcamp memorize word for word you general orders and the rank structure. it will help you be ahead of everyone else. anything else you can memorize like the marine corps birthday woul be good but the two i told you be able to say them without hesitation. you will be using the rank structure right away as you will need to address each marine by their rank and you will need the general orders because you stand firewatch right away and every watch they will quiz you on you general orders.

also remember no matter how fast you or anyone else does something or how good it will never be fast enough or good enough just give 110% and dont get frustrated at yourself or anyone else when that is not good enough

    good luck

  • J.W. is sort of wrong in terms of speaking in third person. The term "The/this Private is NOT used anymore. Today, u address urself as "This recruit..." when addressing a DI, Marine, Sailor, civilian, and sometimes senior recruits. Follow the advice given to u by other Marines and when being yelled at by the DI, keep your composure and bearing. Respond to his orders or comments with a loud voice. The 1st Phase sucks in the since that u are in a long haul, 2nd Phase is cool w/ wpns but u lose sleep and go on humps (ie: the Reaper) 3rd Phase is not all that miserable and morale tends to be high since you know ur 1 step closer to graduation.

It sucks pretty much the entire time you're there, progressively sucking more until after the Crucible. You still have good times though, mostly after the first couple weeks, once you've gotten the routine down and start noticing funny **** happening. If you're going to PI, have fun with those ******* sand fleas. Those things made me more aggressive and willing to kill more than ANYthing else the DI's ever threw at me. Don't scratch anything and keep your mouth shut. Chit-chatting is just a 1st class ticket to the Pit or Quarterdeck. Oh, and when you're on firewatch, make sure every idiot actually has their rifle locked up CORRECTLY. Check each one, twice. There's always AT LEAST one idiot who forgets.

The Marine bootcamp training is going to be very challlenging and tough. Since the marines are our first line of duty to get sent out. Just do the best you can. Joining any part of the military is not going to be easy. Bootcamp training for Marines i believe is 12 weeks. I just wish you the best of luck and keep your head up dont be discouraged.

The primary concepts of any of the basic training programs is to take in a recruite (Raw material) and remake her/him into what that service need in order to function in that particular branch of service. Secondly, basic training is a game of elimination! The mind games and the physical demands are all desinged to weed out the weak links. Take it as a game and don't take anything personal. It's all business and business as usual. Those who make it realize this and live to fight another day.... Remember, basic is only the beginning....! You have to also get through your primary Techinical training/MOS training/Rate training school..... Again, the focus is to weed out the weak, the unwilling, and the unable!!!!

BE PREPARED FOR ANYTHING!!! Boot camp is a place designed to (literally) take apart your personality and reassemble it into an efficient fighting/killing machine. You WON'T be a robot, but you WILL come out of BT with a TOTALLY different outlook on life!

its mind over matter....if you don't mind - it don't matter. Remember that all the screaming, yelling etc. is NOT personal (unless you mess up badly), it is all part of the process of making you a Marine.
