Many adults in Iraq believe the coalition effort has been negative, according to a poll by the Iraq Centre for Research and Strategic Studies and the Gulf Research Center. 90 per cent of respondents think the situation in their country was better before the U.S.-led invasion..."

"Iraqi Women Face Greater Danger, Fewer Rights

    January 29, 2008

Most everyone in Iraq has suffered because of violence, but the lives of women have been, perhaps, affected the most.

Their right to go where and do what they wish has been dramatically restricted by the rise of Islamist parties and extremist groups.

Women's rights groups report that in the past six months, more than 100 women have been killed in the city of Basra for wearing make-up or what is deemed Western clothing. Those who dare to defend them have also been attacked and, in some cases, killed..."

The key words are after. It was not Americans that killed them. If a people freed from a tyrant decide to massacre each other is it the liberators fault? No, it is that peoples fault.

Saddam was removed not for the betterment of Iraq but for the betterment of the world. The number of dead in the removal of a world threat is not of any importance as those dead did not remove the threat they chose instead to live under it and there by sealed their fate.

You're inflating the figures a little, it's more like 80,000-88,000 from current figures.

That said, the vagueness of the figures shows how strong America's commitment to protecting the people of the country they invaded really is.

As General Tommy Franks himself said, "We don't do body counts.".

Saddam was by no means better, but I think that the laissez-faire attitude displayed by the US government towards US troops and mercenaries is disgusting.

Just look at the whole Blackwater debacle.

Source(s): Iraq Body Count: http://www.iraqbodycount.org/ These guys are working hard to name and show the true cost of the American adventure in Iraq.

Cite your source. Gonna need a link.

And no, Saddam Hussein wasn't better. He was just making Iraq worse. For all the violence being caused by insurgents in the region, Iraq has some hope of being a normal, peaceful country eventually. Iraq was never going to be that country under Saddam.

    Not really!!

saddam killed alot of people as well!! he was a dictator and a murderer. People most understand that this is the middle east. changes take time. it is not the US where every thing is fast and available, We most be patient. things will work out but the problem might take a while.

Do I agree with how Bush has handled the war? No.

Do I regret the removal of Saddam? No.

I think your number is inflated.

Iraq is not a good situation, but Saddam killed his share of Iraqis too.

No, I don't think things were better with him in power.

The poster is right in the number figure according to Wikipedia.

All Iraqi violent deaths, Opinion Research Business. As of August 2007: 1,033,000 (946,000-1,120,000).

I don't think Hussein killed this increasing number of people. With Hussein they had no freedom but it was stable. Now, they have "freedom," but could be dead at any minute.

To the posters critizising the original poster, please, do a little research and stop offending this person.

Locutus, that's so easy to say since you most likely don't live in Iraq and face the constant fear of dying.

Filipinas are keen to artwork with you (maximum no longer all) American women are extra apprehensive approximately competing with you. To a Filipina you (as a guy) are the pinnacle, to an American lady you (as a guy) are the enemy even once you're their guy.
