I keep hearing slurs of "Anti-Christ" and claims that he's trying to get all school-aged kids tagged in exchange for food-stamps.

It seems to all be coming, on here at least, from the Christians.

Why is this? Has he fulfilled some prophecy?

I can't help but think that certain religious groups have been so used to getting their own way that now they think they're being oppressed when something doesn't go their way, or if someone disagrees with them.

I was watching a fascinating documentary about fundamentalist Christians on UK's Channel Four; Dispatches: "In God's Name".

Anyway, in this documentary, these Christians were saying things like "God does not want this", or "We are acting on God's behalf".

So I started wondering, under what directive do fundamentalist Christians operate as attorney for God?

If, by some fluke, "Intelligent Design" made it into American schools, what form would the syllabus take?

The reason I ask is that ID lacks any real consistent theory at the moment, so it seems to me that it would be a waste of everyone's time to try to teach it at the moment.

I'm interested because the whole furore over creation vs evolution in US schools seems to be a recent phenomenon.

I'd just really like this cleared up for my own reference.

I've seen so many people, particularly religionists in my case, saying that they "know" things, like for example that the Antichrist is here, or that the earth is flat.

Is religious knowledge different from the literal meaning of the word knowledge or is it a matter of interpretation?

Having attended two funerals of family members close to me, I have spent a lot of time contrasting the differences between the them.

What I'm really asking about is which one you think is a more fitting memorial for the deceased.

I personally prefer the humanist funeral for making the deceased the focus rather than God.
