What amperage of alternator is needed for a 2000 VW Polo 1.4 with power steering?
I need to get a new alternator for my 2000 VW Polo 1.4 with power steering and no air-conditioning, but I need to know the amperage rating and ideally the part number for it. Can anyone help at all? Also, it'd be great if anyone knows the normal price for one without fitting.
1 AnswerVolkswagen1 decade agowhat is the best size for a canvas art print?
I'm looking to start selling some of my photographs and digitally altered work as canvas art prints, but I don't know what is the most desirable/salable size to go for.
I'm looking at stuff with a standard 2:1 width-height ratio, but if you guys can give me a professional or informed answer, it'd be much appreciated.
1 AnswerOther - Visual Arts1 decade agoIf you were "cloaked" by bending light around yourself, could you still see out?
If we take the concept of "cloaking" to mean concealment by bending light around an object (thereby not reflecting it back to an observer's eye), surely this would mean that you couldn't see anything yourself.
As a further (extra credit) question, is there a way of enabling yourself to see out without giving away your position.
Best answer on extra credit wins!
5 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoWhat does R&S think of Spain's plans to grant human rights to apes?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jun/26/humanr...
The Spanish parliament has approved legislature granting the right to life and freedom to great apes.
is this a step in the right direction or a grave misjudgment?
I personally think that as our closest genetic relatives, it's about time we recognised the closeness and gave them the respect they deserve, what do you think?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCredible arguments, not including the watch argument, for ID (ID advocates only)?
I haven't seen any and apparently asking whether an argument is accurate isn't sincere, so for balance, I ask:
What are the scientifically proven arguments FOR "Intelligent Design"?
ID advocates only please!
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoArguments against "Intelligent Design"?
I've read plenty of substantial counterarguments to ID but there's one that really blew my mind:
http://uath.org/english.php?news=26
Anyone care to comment on the efficacy and accuracy of this argument?
26 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat is the religious right's problem with Barack Obama?
I keep hearing slurs of "Anti-Christ" and claims that he's trying to get all school-aged kids tagged in exchange for food-stamps.
It seems to all be coming, on here at least, from the Christians.
Why is this? Has he fulfilled some prophecy?
21 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs not getting your own way the same as oppression?
I can't help but think that certain religious groups have been so used to getting their own way that now they think they're being oppressed when something doesn't go their way, or if someone disagrees with them.
Am I right?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs any evidence on earth not apparently placed here by the Devil?
Someone asked an excellent question just now about if there were to be evidence about the marriage of Jesus to Magdalene and at least one answerer claimed that it would be Satan's work planting the evidence there.
Does that mean that any other evidence about Jesus' very existence would be rejected on the same grounds?
This is the problem I have with religionists in general.
Anyone care to shed some light on it?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf it is prideful to adorn oneself, according to the bible...?
then why do so many churchgoers dress themselves in finery?
Every person who wears more than they need to is guilty of pride and avarice.
Is this true or false?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs it fair for any group to claim persecution if they persecute other groups?
I know this question sounds loaded but having seen the same people on here claiming persecution and then turning around and criticising other groups groundlessly, I need to ask this question.
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf Afghanistan had been a Christian theocracy?
Would the UN, or any country, such as the US, have attempted to liberate its people from the fundamentalist dogma being put upon its people?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAbout the Tower of Babel?
If God will never intervene on earth, why did he feel the need to intervene in the construction of a building that brought all nations together and closer, physically to god?
And why can't he intervene now when the world so needs an all powerful deity?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs LaVeyan Satanism the natural order of humans?
I've been reading the Satanic Bible and it got me thinking, is Satanism advocating human nature over denying our genes?
Satanism advocates putting yourself before everyone else, which is equivalent to putting your genes first, which is how animals operate.
I'm just wondering if Anton LaVey actually realised that he wrote a social equivalent of "The Selfish Gene".
Thoughts?
And no Bible-thumping please.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo Christians have power of attorney for God?
I was watching a fascinating documentary about fundamentalist Christians on UK's Channel Four; Dispatches: "In God's Name".
Anyway, in this documentary, these Christians were saying things like "God does not want this", or "We are acting on God's behalf".
So I started wondering, under what directive do fundamentalist Christians operate as attorney for God?
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTeaching of "Intelligent Design" in American schools?
If, by some fluke, "Intelligent Design" made it into American schools, what form would the syllabus take?
The reason I ask is that ID lacks any real consistent theory at the moment, so it seems to me that it would be a waste of everyone's time to try to teach it at the moment.
35 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhen did the American educational system start teaching evolution?
I'm interested because the whole furore over creation vs evolution in US schools seems to be a recent phenomenon.
I'd just really like this cleared up for my own reference.
4 AnswersTeaching1 decade agoIs there a difference between religious "knowing" and literal knowing?
I've seen so many people, particularly religionists in my case, saying that they "know" things, like for example that the Antichrist is here, or that the earth is flat.
Is religious knowledge different from the literal meaning of the word knowledge or is it a matter of interpretation?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHumanist vs Catholic/Christian funerals?
Having attended two funerals of family members close to me, I have spent a lot of time contrasting the differences between the them.
What I'm really asking about is which one you think is a more fitting memorial for the deceased.
I personally prefer the humanist funeral for making the deceased the focus rather than God.
Let me know what you think.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow relevant are today's religions to the world we live in?
A great thinker, and comedian, once said
"the reason our institutions, our traditional religions are all crumbling is because they're no longer relevant."
How true do you think that statement is?
