Is LaVeyan Satanism the natural order of humans?
I've been reading the Satanic Bible and it got me thinking, is Satanism advocating human nature over denying our genes?
Satanism advocates putting yourself before everyone else, which is equivalent to putting your genes first, which is how animals operate.
I'm just wondering if Anton LaVey actually realised that he wrote a social equivalent of "The Selfish Gene".
Thoughts?
And no Bible-thumping please.
I can see the point being made about operating within a larger society, and even the Nietzschean comparisons, but Nietzsche has been an inspiration to humanists for a long time.
I don't for one second think that LaVey knew he was speaking to genetics when he wrote the Satanic Bible, just that it seems positively Darwinian when you read into it.
@ AxisOfIntolerance: I have read The Selfish Gene and it remains one of the most influential books of my life.
What I am saying is that LaVeyan Satanism advocates self-first selection, akin to what genes drive all animals to do, as well as encouraging us to follow our primal urges.

In a slight sense, yes. There is a funny quote that I like about this:
"I wouldn't die for my brother - but I'd die for two brothers or eight cousins."
In other words, your brother has 50% of your genes, so that wouldn't let yours live on. A cousin has 1/8 of your genes, so 8 cousins = you.
We make tons of decisions like this every day, benefiting us over other people. That's not to say that humans are selfish. You can care about your own well-being more than those of others, and still be a very fair person. I care about myself greatly, and everyone should - but I also care about those close to me, and even those who aren't close to me, in a slight sense - I opt for the general benefit of humanity as opposed to my personal benefit.

I disagree. An organism living in a society the size of ours must not only think of itself, but also of the species in general. That sort of Adam Smith thinking only goes so far; there comes a point where it needs to be at least modified, if not discarded, if the species is to survive.
I haven't read that book, but I would also argue that belief in any gods (including Satan) is going against our genes.

that isn't completely true, read "the selfish gene" by r. dawkins if you have not already.
not all animals put themselves first, but you are correct they put their genes first. But, their genes are not only located in them, they are located on members of the family or to a lesser extent other humans in general.

i haven't read satanic bible, maybe i'll pick up a copy.

Spiritual Satanism is actually 'the natural order of humans'.
LaVeyan Satanism is more of a theory.
And believe me, I have done my research.
Its not necessarily putting yourself before others. We strive for something great, and we do 'Self Empowerment'.

i wikied up LeVayen Satanism and it strikes me strange as to why people who pooh pooh centuries old established religions and consider themselves to be rebels who follow their logic would follow a weird poser like LeVey and his book which basically rips off Nietzsche
EDIT:
and the natural order of Humans is to establish a civilization and work together for common goals and establish morals and laws to better regulate society and prevent disorder. even isolated people living in remote areas have created civilization based on obedience and order. Civilization is the natural order of humans and religion is hard wired into our psyche. the beliefs of Satanists and other anarchistic people are unnatural.

This is one result of too much or excessive tendency of man to think that he can everything. This is the result of knowledge explosion. they have the freedom to write what they wanted to write according to what they feel and understood, whether it is right or wrong, true or not. You also have the freedom to accept or to believe what they have written. Feel free.
