If you want to groom your dog, I suggest "Notes from The grooming table". It covers more than one breed, but has tons of info from washing, drying and more.

I would also suggest Muddy Creek Video on Grooming your shih tzu.

You will need a pair of GOOD ($100) clippers, a dryer, table and blades too. Check out www.petedge.com

Tell me that you have been brushing him? They mat so easily, and he probably will need to be shaved down if he is full of mats that will pull the skin tight and is painful. Let the groomer do it this next time. I am sure there are books out there and if you even learned how to trim the feet and face, head and kept him brushed. I used to groom my shelties and did trimming on them, so its really not that hard. Even if you were to mess up, its going to grow back. You will have to be buying the equipment and don't go for the cheap stuff. You might as well have the groomers do him short, and it will be awhile before it grows out. Just set money out in a jar for the next grooming.

First off its spelled Shih Tzu. Secondly I'm sure you can get one of Amazon.com but its much more difficult to groom a dog than most people think.

Maybe at a Pet Store like Petsmart,or Pet World.
