I'm a born and bred Minnesota girl and I am the proud mother of two beautiful little girls. I love watching NASCAR, hockey, horse racing, and baseball, and I love to ride my horse down to the lake when it's hot and humid. I'm a writer, and I love to read anything, from comic books to John Grishom novels. I also love country music, as well as jazz and instrumental. God bless the USA.

  • Why are some movie sequels horrible?

I'm not talking the script itself, and I know there are a number of sequels that outshined the original. What I'm talking about is the filming and technology and special effects. Two sequels stand out in my mind. The first is Return To Cabin By The Lake, starring Judd Nelson. Many of the shots looked like they were taken with a regular store-bought video camera, then cuts to a more professional shot, then back to amateur-ish shots. The second sequel is Jaws: The Revenge. It's sad when the shark from the original Jaws, made in 1975, looks better and has a more realistic look at death than the shark in a movie made in 1987. I've seen lower-budget movies that have looked much better than these two, and others. What do you think?

  • When did you spill the baby news?

When did you tell people you were pregnant? With my oldest I waited a couple months (besides family). With my youngest, I couldn't hold the news in. When did you tell?

  • Condom broke, what are the chances I could be pregnant?

My boyfriend and I were intimate on 3/31, and we were using a condom. However, it broke and we didn't realize it until after ejaculation. My cycle started on 3/20, and it's 28 days on average. I'm not looking to end a potential pregnancy, I'm just wondering what the odds are that I would pop a BFP on a test?

  • Safe ways to raise my blood pressure?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant, and my blood pressure is way too low. I've been feeling lightheaded and dizzy for the past week, and went to see the urgent care doctor yesterday. When they took my BP, it was 80/60. An hour and a half later, it was 90/59. The doctor concluded that the low BP was because of dehydration, but I still feel ucky today. What are some safe ways to raise my blood pressure without presenting harm to my baby?

  • What causes bad morning/all-day sickness?

After trying for over two years, we finally got the BFP on March 5! Exciting! I've noticed, though, that the morning sickness hit me harder and sooner than it did with my first pregnancy. With my daughter, I didn't experience morning sickness until near the end of the third month, and it only went for about a month, and always in the morning. With this one, a week after I got the BFP I started feeling queasy in the evenings, and it's since gone into full-blown all-day sickness. I eat because I have to, not because I want to, and I have yet to find something that really perks my interest. I realize that every pregnancy is different, but I was wondering if there's any particular reason that causes worse morning sickness for different pregnancies?

Maybe it's just me. My mom had two girls, and was in and out of the hospital because she was so sick. My aunt had two boys, and only felt like throwing up once. I've had people tell me that because I'm more sick than last time, it'll be a boy. I've also had people say twins, and a few said triplets. Is there any correlation between multiples and morning sickness? Or gender and morning sickness?

  • Why do my hands still smell like onions?

I work in a fast food restaurant, and we use two different kinds of onions, purple/red onions and yellow onions. The yellow ones get sauteed; not sure if that makes a difference or not. Even though I wear disposable gloves whenever I'm handling the onions (and other foods) and wash my hands thoroughly, my hands inevitably smell like onions for hours, even a day later. What's the reason for this? It's not a overly strong smell, but it's there, and it annoys me somewhat, lol.

  • How old was your child when you grounded him/her for the first time?

My two and a half year old daughter is coming off her first week-long grounding. I chuckle over the incident now, but at the time...

Last Friday I got home from work at 10:30, and she was still awake. Between when I got home and when I went to bed, I pulled her out of her closet and put her back into bed five times. At 3:45 in the morning, she wakes me up by crawling into my bed. Turns out she had gotten through the baby gate I put across her doorway as well as the one I put across the hall entrance (so the dogs don't get into the rest of the house at night); I found numerous shoes and clothes that I had sorted for storing, books, toys, and other things from the dining room. There was also two bottles of detangler, nail polish, lotion, toothpaste, and bodywash from the bathroom, all uncapped, in her room. Because I was in *such* a good mood at 3:45 in the morning, I grounded her for a week: no movies, no dolphin lamp in her room (it's a funky little thing), no Toby (cat) at naptime and betime, and no toys besides one stuffed animal in her room at BT and NT.

So how old was your child when you grounded him/her for the first time, and what was the punishment? And the crime, if you want to share, lol.

  • I'm really trying not to get my hopes up too much...what do you think?

So hubby and I have been TTC for over a year now. AF came on November 11th, and we bopped like bunnies since AF left. For the last week I've been simply exhausted; go to bed early and get up at my usual time, and I'm still just dragging through the day. A couple days ago I wanted cocktail sauce, and last night it was honey, and of course we didn't have either in the house (grrrrr). Haven't been really queasy...a little bit here and there. My tatas are a bit tender, my lower back has been a bear, and I'm peeing like crazy. In the last couple days I've also noticed a discharge when I wipe. I want to get a BFP this month, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high just in case. So do you think I should let my hopes get up, or should I keep holding my breath?

  • What would explain what I've been seeing?

I got a visit from AF on March 5th, and it lasted through the 7th. I saw brownish blood (old blood) when I wiped starting on March 20th and going on for about 3 days, and then again for one day on April 4th. Hubby and I have been TTC baby #2, but a test from the doc came up negative. Also, I'm not sure if my system is back in sync since I got off the depo provera (my last shot was September of 07). AF hasn't come every month since before I was pregnant...usually AF comes every other month. I'm hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. What would explain what I've been experiencing, and (based on the info I've provided) what are my chances of conceiving this year?

  • What can I do when a former employer lies about my work history?

In the end of February I was released (fired) from my job as an administrative assistant, because I made a major billing error. I had made some smaller errors in the past (while entering timecards, typing, etc), and had been warned in the quarterly evaluation. I fully admit that I made a mistake and that my mistake is why I was released from the company. The day I was released, my supervisor looked me in the eye and said how she had enjoyed my presence in the office and that she appreciated my hard work, and that I could use her/the company as a reference for future work.

I filed for unemployment benefits while I've been jobhunting. Based on the information I gave the U/E offices, it was determined that I was eligible for U/E benefits. My former supervisor has appealed the decision, claiming that I "was not a good fit" with the company, that I "didn't have the company's best interested in mind" when I worked, that I would answer her "with a shrug of the shoulders and say I don't know" when she asked me something, that I "wouldn't bother looking for misplaced files", and numerous other falsehoods. When I read that on the U/E website (after I saw that the company was appealing), I was appauled. If there was something I didn't understand, I would ask for help. If there was something missing, I'd look for it, and half the time the file that was missing was on her desk! And I would never, ever shrug my shoulders and say 'I don't know' when she asked me something about work. That is completely unprofessional and against my character in general. I loved that job, and I had nothing but good to say when people asked if I enjoyed it.

The appeal hearing (done via a conference phone call) will be in a little over a week. In the meantime, what can I do to gather evidence so that I can show the appeal judge that I'm telling the truth? I have copies of my evaluations, but I'm afraid that if my supervisor lies on the first part of the appeal, she'll lie during the hearing. And since she had been with the company longer than I had, what's stopping her from coercing my former coworkers into lying in her favor?

  • What should I get for my next horse?

I was raised around horses and have ridden all my life. Currently I have an Arabian(7/8)/American Saddlebred cross(1/8) gelding and I love him dearly. He'll be 23 in May (a month after I turn 23...I've been his legal owner since I was 5 months old), and he still acts like a 12 year old most days. I probably won't be getting my next horse until he's passed on, but I'm starting to think about what breed I should try next. I've trained Arabs in the past and as much as I love them, most Arabs have a smaller structure than I'm comfortable with, since I'm a bit heavier-set and have a large bone structure. I'm considering Quarter Horses, but they're a dime a dozen in my area. I love draft horses, but at the same time I don't need a horse that size for trail rides and possibly the occasional local fun show. I love the look of Appaloosas and Palominos (although that's more of a color breed, really). Since my old man, as I call him, is a bit of a hothead, I'd like a calmer horse, one that actually knows how to walk instead of prance, lol. I would prefer a taller horse with a sturdy build. So what breeds should I be considering, besides the ones I've listed?

  • How can I put more weight on my kitten?

My kitten, Radar (named after Radar O'Reilly from M*A*S*H because he was the smallest in the litter), doesn't seem to be gaining weight. He'll be a year old in April, and he's just so thin! He gets a high-quality dry cat food, and I suppliment with some wet food (Friskies, but it was free from a friend so I can't complain), but he doesn't seem to gain anything. I had him at the vet last summer for shots, declaw, and neuter (the neuter didn't get done because his testicles hadn't descended, so that's yet to be done), and his tests came back clear. His next vet visit will be coming up in a couple months. He's never been outside, so I doubt he's picked anything up. HIs energy level is completely normal; he tears through the house, loves to cuddle, and is a complete momma's boy, lol. And he walks all over my dogs (literally). But I just don't know what else I can do to put weight on him. Any suggestions?

  • I hate the waiting period before testing...grrr...?

Ugh. Hubby and I have been TTC for almost a year now, since I stopped taking depo provera in September of 07. AF was visiting March 7-9; last visit was mid-January. I've been getting AF about every two months for the last half-year or so. On the 20th I noticed some brownish blood when I wiped; that lasted for about four days. A couple days ago I just felt 'off', and tonight after hubby and I had a romp, I got queasy. It's been a good half hour and I'm still feeling queasy. I'm not sure when to test, though, since my cycle is still a bit whacked. I also have an appointment with my OB this upcoming Monday, but I just want to test every morning! Urgh!

So, rambling aside, do you think I'll get my BFP this month? And when should I test?

  • How many of those TTC here have noticed...?

...that it seems like all our friends are pregnant? I swear, I've got a good dozen of my friends who are pregnant, in all stages. One of my friends just found out today! And as happy as I am for them, I also kind of feel left out, ya know?

Tell me I'm not alone here...

  • Curious about a question I saw on here last night...?

Someone had asked a question wondering which of three guys might be the father of her baby. I'm just curious if anyone on here has been in a similar situation.

I'm not going to judge; I know people who have been in a similar situation, including one of my cousins. Like I said, I'm just curious.

  • What would explain this?

So I got AF on March 5th, and it lasted through the 7th. Now I've been seeing brownish blood (old blood) when I wipe, starting on March 20th and going through today. Hubby and I have been TTC baby #2. However, on March 9th I had a blood test done before an x-ray, and it was negative. I'm hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. I'm planning to take a HPT in the next day or so, but for now I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this.

  • What are my chances of getting pregnant?

After I had my daughter (3/21/07), I started on the depo shot. My final shot was September of 07. Oh so slowly my body has been getting back to normal; I don't think I'm 100% 'normal', but AF has been coming for a few days every couple months. Hubby and I have decided that we want to start trying for baby #2, so for the past couple months we have been basically bopping like bunnies.

Based on the information given, what are my chances of getting pregnant? And yes, I have been in touch with my doctor, but he doesn't want to try anything drug related just yet.

  • Planning to adopt a Pug, looking for owners' thoughts...?

I'm planning on adopting or rescuing a Pug sometime in the next 5 years. I've lived with dogs all my life, but never a Pug, so I've been learning about the breed off and on for the past few years. I'm just curious as to what Pug owners have seen in their dogs, good and bad.

Currently I have two Lab mixes, so that would be the size of the Pug's packmate. I also have a 21 month old daughter who I taught early that she has to be gentle with all animals.

    Thanks for answering!

  • Deer hunters, what did you bag this season?

Just a few fun questions for the deer hunters here. How did your season go? How many tags did you have, and did you fill them? If you shot a big, how big was the rack? If you were in a hunting party, how did your party do overall?

My season went well. I shot my first deer ever, a doe fawn. She was running and I dropped her with one shot; I'm quite proud of that little deer. I had two tags, but only filled one. Didn't get a buck. Overall, our hunting party shot seven deer: 5 does and two bucks. My mom shot a 10 point buck and my sister shot an 8 point buck. The racks were identical height and width; the only difference was the number of points. Overall, it was a good season for us.
