Windows Vista.?

Hello

I'm not a techy person but i have heard a bit about vista like its compatibility and bugs/ faults.

Now im on a budget and need to get a new computer but don't have the time of money to stuff around with getting a computer and removing vista and putting XP on there or all that.

I have heard that the main reasons people dislike Vista is because they had a windows XP computer and the move over to vista and dident have enough space or stuff like that.

If you buy an outright Vista computer would it be ok?

My needs:-

i would get a laptop no way a desk top!!!!!!!

I would get a computer with 120gig

i would need to run the basic windows programs (e.g word, publisher, powerpoint)

I would need to have Adobe Photo shop

I tunes

And a fair bit of music

And any other random programs

With the issue of compatibility it that true? like do no accessory's work with it

E.g web-cameras, and old hardware i may have like wireless keyboards.

And programs in-general.

thanks so much for helpin

On word. Dell. The reason I say this, is because, sometimes they have deals where you can customize your own. My friends sister bought one with a duo processor 2 gigs of ram and that for about $600.

If you want to use Vista, you can also use XP using a virtual PC which you can download off of www.microsoft.com

For this I would get a duo processor that you can run both effectively on.

Vista has had some problems and it's being tested for bugs and the like, but vista is more compatable and more efficiant than xp ever dreamt of being.

We are currently in the process of working out the bugs and making vista a little better. There are still things beta testing, but other than that, Vista is a great product. I believe that you will strongly agree.

It's different, but it has a lot better quality, picture, space, storage, etc.

You might want to check software, etc. Some things STILL don't have the compatability with Vista where as they do with XP. If you want XP, I would still recommend DELL, as they are the best.

theres nothing wrong with vista, i have it and cant fault it. Your right when you said OLD hardware and programs. Thats exactly what they are and you have to move on and update at some point. Sometimes you can go into a manufacturers web site and get a patch to make it compatible with vista.

There are loads of laptops out there with 120 GB hard drives and reasonably priced. as far as word and publisher goes you would need to purchase Microsoft office. the same with photo shop. itunes you can download for free but i prefer media player.

I have a windows vista laptop that i just got to. when i first got it i wasnt really use to it and thought it was really hard to use. After you use it, you will get use to it and think it would be easier, and it has some cool gadgets. But if you really want windows Xp. i think if you call in Dell they still offer it. But if you get a laptop from a store like Best Buy, all the computers come with vista. And with vista you want atleast two gigs of memory so it would run smoothly.

I have window XP-Home , and I can run all the programs that you indicated without any problem.

On Xmas 2007, I ordered a laptop from Dell and I specific ask for XP instead of Vista.

With all the Vista bugs that you hear people talk about, I recommend you stay with XP.

Source(s): - Desk top upgrade from XP to Vista then reformat the disk to goback to XP. (my desk top has dual core, 2M RAM, 128M video card) - Had laptop with XP after seen my friend have too much problem with Vista laptop.

If the PC comes standard with Vista then it will be tested and working fine. Vista isn't bad, its just not 100% compatible yet. Some older programs won't run and many older bits of hardware need updated drivers. If theres specific old programs you want to run, or specific hardware just double check that there are updates available and/or that they are fully compatible.

    hello you ok ?

iam going to give you some good advice now.

1 if your on a budget why dont you get a computer built so then you can get everything you want and leave stuff you dont want out of it.

2 its the cheaper method and also its more personal to you because no one is going to have exactly the same computer as you !

3 its something to think about would you agree.

4 iam using a custom computer whilst typing this answer to you and its a beautiful computer to use too.

5 if you need anymore help feel free to message me and i will point you in the right directions ok.

6 i can help you with quite a lot of things too so just ask.

7 if you read some of my previous posts you will get a general idea about the popularity of vista !.

bye 4 now and happy computing.

I had Vista for bout 3 months, just put xp back on today. Its not to bad, mainly just slow and unstable cause its new. except like win 98 crap, it didnt seem that hard to find drivers for it, but I keep up on hardware, so didnt try to much old ****. Anyways, its worth using, even if ur not a comp tech, there are tweaks on the internet to speed it up and make it a lil more stable till sp1 comes out

    Vista should be fine

as more time goes by the compatibility issues with Vista will be worked out

plus you can always download service packs later
