Homework what were important cities of Italy during the renaissance???

The 5 main city states were The Papal States or Romagna, Florence, Milan, Naples and Venice. Florence was very important during the Renaissance, it was mainly controlled by the Medici family who controlled the largest bank in europe at the time. The Medicis also sponsered DaVinci, Michelangelo, and Donatello. Also Dante and Boccaccio were from outside Florence in Tuscany.

ps. There are more options once you get onto the site. Also remember that the Italian Renaissance started about 150 years before the Renaissance in the rest of Europe so the dates may seem a bit early, but they're not.
