Presentatrion skills?
When I have a meeting or a Presentation that I'll be the key person to speak to the whole group (most of them managers) I get very nervous that at the 1st 3 minutes that my voice won't be loud enough & my hands will be shaky, I know that this is due to the adrenaline rush in my body but I really want to over come this strange 3 minutes.
Any Ideas ?

Well this is something natural and almost everyone person go through this. I have given lots of presentations in my life.
The initial presentations were not acceptable. I got no grades.. first 2 I must say. and then one day while crying, and being nervous I talked to myself and I convinced myself that these people, in front of whom I get nervous, are just like me.In many ways, Alhumdulillah, I'm better than them. No one is perfect, Today if I'm nervous, tomorrow they'll be nervous. Why to worry about this world? why to get nervous? Alright then, I know who I am, My Allah is with me, And I can overcome this.
On my next presentation, I learned the first few lines of every heading. like first 2 lines.. I made my self understand the whole topic. I did extra research on my topic on the net. And then having the feeling of being authorized for some issues, I feel as If the Audience sitting infront of me, Needs ME, they Need to know What I have to say. ............... I used to start my presentations with a warm welcome and smile on my face, showing others that m pretty aware of my topic. And taking the name of ALlah and taking 3 deep breaths, I used to start and from then onwards, I have always been appreciated for my presentations and Was considered among the good presenters. People used to way to attend my presentations...
Just I identified myself ~!
Hope this helps you..and thanks alot for letting me go back to my golden memories. :)

Hello,
I use to do exactly that! Whenever I would have to speak infront of people I would shake to the point where I couldn't speak. Everyone's techinque differs, but here is what I do :
1) I pratically memorize everything that I'm going to say, but when giving the speech, it's important for it not to sound rehearsed.
2) I put myself infront of the group I'm speaking to before I actually speak to them; as in I stand there until I'm comfortable with their prescence.
3) Don't actually look at the people you are speaking to. Find a common area where your audience will believe you to be looking at someone, so they'll think you are even though your not.
4) Relax, talk to them like you would a friend. A great speaker is able to connect with their audience on a personal level, thus making it much easier to speak.
I hope this helps!
Smiles,
Kim~

Hey there Faraway,
I was the same too wallahi, so i started visualizing the night before the presentation and going through it over and over again in my head. Then on the day of the presentation, i would try to hide those scary 3 minutes by smiling or greeting them. Then once i start i try to concentrate on the subject at hand or the case i am explaining.
If all this fails then go with Hasafer's idea seems funny but cud help.

presentation in a public should have some self confiedience as to convice the audience by youe idea
Tips:-
1-when u get sweat or nervious or shaking ...... neglect it
2-try ti divide your topic to 3 parts
First Body end
First :-
should include
1-how to catch the audience attention( qurain- facts- stories-events-......)
2-your certications
3-your goals ( Why u r giving this lecture?)
Body:-
1-should be in a points
2-use pictures and graphs
3-use colors (only 2 colors not more)
4-use something funny in the middle of body
5-try to raise your voice in some parts and decrease it in other parts that do not let anybody sleep in front of u do not give him this chance
6-make it summery with no details
7-u can say questions after the lecture
End:-
1-finish your words with the aim of your lecture
2-say thank u at the end of the lecture
Thank u

- Prepare the presentation very well.
- Try to learn it almost by heart.
- make rehearsals.
- When you start take a deep breath, smile, look at each one in the eye. This should take only seconds.
- Thank them for being there.
- Once you start there is nothing to fear cause you are well prepared.
- Take a breath between phrases, do not throw the information to them.
- From time to time pause for a while and look at them in the eye.
- Have everything written, do not read from what you wrote unless you have to read figures. What you write down should be well spaced, divided into clear paragraphs, in large font or handwriting for easy reference. With this in front of you, you will feel safe.
- Say some prayers before you start.
GOOD LUCK.

- This situation get improve by time, i bet the last time is slightly better than the first
- Before you do your presentation or the meeting try to focus on what will be the best opening to your presentation, like; "gentlemen, good morning, my name is .....i work in ....(if this is relevant, i.e. there are people who don't know you) and i ll be glad to deliver to you the idea of......." or "the presentation of today is about....."or "the whole purpose of this gathering is......"
- take some deep breaths before you speak..
- distribute your attention as much as you can on everyone in the meeting, look everyone in the eye for few secs.
- Do prepare for your presentation VERY WELL..put yourself in others shoes and try to imagine what the "others" want to hear or to know? try to imagine what kind of questions they d ask? and be prepared accordingly
- put in mind that ANYONE of those people, no matter how important they are, if not experienced or prepared would also have the same feelings you have in front of audience, you focus on one thing " I can beat that"
- GOOD LUCK!

kinda same thing happens to me but find a distraction .before the presentation do some breathing exercises, simple inhale exhale will do, it will help to calm down ur nerves and during have something in your hand. i mean donot let them be idle, pen or pencil or some clip, u know play with it in a manner that is not distracting to others and helps u to keep ur nervousness diverted from stress, u know rolls the clip around or something

start talking 3 minutes earlier with your colleague about the project you will present, maybe it will help you to adjust to the situation faster.
