leopard gecko?
hey, i have had my leopard gecko for about 6 months now, got her as a baby. I have taken great care of her. feed her, keep plenty of water in her tank and give her proper nutrients. but this past shedding she not only shed, she bit off half of her tail. I know they do this when frightened or malnurished, but neither has happened. it really upsets me because she is a carrot tail. can anyone shed light on why she did this and how long will it take to grow back?

I hope this will help:;
A leopard gecko can drop his tail. They can grow back, not as nice as his original tail, but usable. However, your gecko can have other injuries and should see a good reptile vet.

I have a super hypo tangerine carrot tail who has lost his tail as another gecko bit it off before I bought him. It doesn't affect them in any way, but the tail won't grow back as nicely. It may take 1 - 2 months to fully recover. Also, try to keep it clean so it doesn't get infected!
No worries, lots of geckos lose their tails. It's nothing that you've done :)
