Manufacture date for Sears Kenmore sewing machine #158.1791?
Do you know what the manufacture date is for this machine or how I can find it? I have searched many websites to no avail...
I do have the manual, thank you for the suggestions. I did call Sears, they gave me another number for a sewing machine company that makes their machines. It's a Japanese company, can't remember the name right now though. I called, left a message during normal business hours and never heard back from them. So, I will just wait and continue searching using your excellent guidelines. Thanks again!

The parts breakdown was made in November 1980, so this machine was manufactured some time after that. Probably between 1981 to 1984.

Looks like you have good alert helpers there.
I usually call my local Sears repair, and get what I need that way. May take a bit longer if your Sears store is in a small town.

I think you don't have all the numbers you need to determine the exact age but it looks like it was made in the late 40s or early 50s, very ballpark there. I wouldn't pay any more than $50 unless the cabinet was very very nice, and assuming it's in working order.

send an email to Sears along with the model number and serial number of your machine. They should be able to tell you the date it was manufactured. Here is the website to use when sending them an email.
