When will the writer's strike end?
I love Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart but even they are reaching an all time low without writers. What was with the Conan interlude tonight? Please Hollywood, give them what they want and spare us from the evils of one more freak fest reality show and the loss of valuable entertainment. Anyone else agree?

I heard it is coming to an end and should be settled within two weeks. I hope I heard right.

There won't be a settlement before next week. Negotiations between the WGA and studios are going well, but there is no deal yet.
Tonight, the WGA leadership has scheduled meetings with it's members on both coasts to update them as far the negotiations and the possible agreement. They promised that there would be no tentative agreement before that time. So we have the strike for at least another week.
After the Negotiation committees agree to a draft contract, it will have to be ratified by the WGA Board of Directors, followed by a membership vote.
Now, the strike could officially be called off after the Board vote and work could resume immediately. That would only happen if the leadership is confident the membership will ratify the contract. The purpose of this weekends meetings could well be to put the proposed contract before the membership at large and get some feedback. If the members respond positively, then the ratification process could happen swiftly.
If the membership is not in favor of the contract proposal, then it will be back to the negotiating table and the picket lines.
