Do your religious/spiritual beliefs influence your belief on whether or not life is fair? How?

Life is not fair, and all of us who happen to live in the overly-blessed western world can be very thankful for the fact; while the vast majority of the world toils in conditions that most of us would find barbaric, and that just to survive, we enjoy such privileged lives that we show not the slightest appreciation for. How much of the world has the luxury of time to waste on something like Yahoo! Answers, in fact? Most of the world is just trying to live another day.
No, life is not fair---for those of us here on Y!A, it is hopelessly unfair.....in our favour.

No, life is not fair. Religious/spiritual beliefs have nothing to do with my views on the fairness of life.

If you are Religious and narrow minded then yes life will not seem fair. Narrow minded religious people put constraints on themselves by not accepting diversity of other cultures and I do mean this in every "religious" deity. A spiritual person who thinks "out of the box" has a much deeper respect for all people. No life isn't fair sometimes, but we make it what it is.
It is in us to change a situation. When we are in a negative situation, we have the power inside us to grow from this and make it tolerable.
How can a religious/spiritual person's view on his/her relationship with God be changed to life is fair? By changing his/her beliefs and learning balance, acceptance and compassion to everyone and everything. Let go of the God who many believes is the "punisher". We punish ourselves because we repeat certain events which are harmful to us, but we know right from wrong. It is in us that we know the truth.
We are part of God. He lives in us and if we listen to our "gut", "spirit" we feel God speaking. I know I could go down the path to the right, but there are many temptations which will hurt me and other people or I could go down the other path and let the God in me lead me where He/she wants me.
This isn't easy and we all take a smooth path, but go down the wrong trail sometimes and get lost.

No life is not fair, few things are. Since I don't have any religious/spiritual beliefs, they don't influence my outlook at all. You have to play the hand you were dealt and make the best of it. You know, if life give you lemons...blah, blah, blah...

THE ELEVEN RULES OF LIFE
RULE 1
Life is not fair - get used to it.
RULE 2
The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
RULE 3
You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice president with car phone, until you earn both.
RULE 4
If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He
doesn't have tenure.
RULE 5
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping. They called it Opportunity.
RULE 6
If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
RULE 7
Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
RULE 8
Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
RULE 9
Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.
RULE 10
Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to
leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
RULE 11
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

No life is not fair, and that I know by religion. That is why I strive for eternal justice, in heaven.
Life is full of problems, nasty people, and misfortunes. But those r the moments I come closer the the Creator & pray for help.
I like the saying that goes: "Dont tell the Lord how big ur problem is, instead tell the problem how BIG the Lord is."

I would say that my beliefs tell me the world isn't fair but could be, as Buddhism deals with the means to end suffering so it offers solutions for that. Once theoretically everyone stops his or her own suffering that can, they will feel a desire to stop the suffering of others, and that would even everything out. Sure some would have more means than others, but no one would feel compelled to withhold those means from those that need them.

I think a persons faith, or lack there of, affects if they think life is fair or not. If you believe there's some bearded guy in the sky who's looking out for your best interest and controls everything, you are more inclined to believe life is fair. If not you may think otherwise.
In my opinion if life was fair you and I would be rich and not just good looking. :)

What a great answer by Jack B!
To me, life is not fair or unfair. Life is what we make of it. Good things happen, painful things happen. Spiritually, it is what you learn from these experiences and how you use them to shape your life that makes the difference.
Love this quote by Carl Sandburg:
Life is like an onion: You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.

Of course not. I'm a Christian. The manifest unfairness of life may influence my beliefs, I suppose. And my beliefs influence how I interpret the unfairness. But I don't think you can look and not see that it's unfair.
