do christians ACTUALLY believe in demons?
really? come on - you can't be serious?
i mean, i can see if you're like 5, but a grown, educated adult believing in that?
oh wait, i said educated.
let me rephrase the question:
do EDUCATED christians ACTUALLY believe in demons? if so, why?
if people of any faith, including my own, are uneducated, i can understand them believing in something like that, but how many educated christians believe that demons are a real thing?
this question was sparked after reading the following: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsqX2...
hasse - most people don't feel sorry for those who are "smart and cool", but many feel jealous of them

No, I am an Educated Christians and I do not believe in demons at all. I don't understand Christians who do either. I believe that to be man-made. No where in the Bible does it talk of demons. Actually there are a lot of man made things about Christianity, I am a follower of Christ and what he says. Nothing less and nothing more.
Source(s): Also, I have never seen the Bible metion demons as in the literal sense. The only demons metioned are demons of the mind. Human sinful natures. Lots of the Bible is a parable, just like Christ's teachings which if you read carefuly, he clearly says. - 5 years ago
Witchcraft is a legitimate religion some christians do believe witchraft is effective but sinful others believe witchraft is ineffective yet still sinful. As for demons some believe demons still exist and still can inhabit people or at least cause mischief and inspire misguided beliefs. Others believe demons do exist but are no loger given power to influence people or events. The bible teaches that Satan would be bound for a period (before once again being relesed to decieve the world just prior to the final judgment) Revelation 20:2-3 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. So these christians believe satan and his minions no longer have the powers they once had during this period leading up to Satan's release and a resurgence of miracles both good and evil leading up to the final judgment.

Just because we can't [except with some developed discernment or other way] see the devils, doesn't mean they aren't there. Angelic/demonic spirits don't have physical bodies, although they may be able to manifest physically in some situations (as angels of God can at God's request.)
I didn't believe in their existence for many years. But having had to deal with a very unpleasant one who got assigned to my by someone of Jezebellic disposition doing witchcraft, I do now know they exist (as the New Testament makes clear anyway).

The Bible is rife (especially in the NT) with instances of demonic possessions, exorcisms and etc. so with the knowledge an "educated Christian" would have of the Word, coupled with his/her faith, it would be easy to see the reality behind the existence of demons.

If someone is an educated Christian then they would believe in demons. There's tons of scriptures that back it up like when Jesus was talking the demons that possessed a man. It's in the gospels.

Let me show you how dumb man is.
We know of the wave spectrum, inside this is the visible light spectrum. Which is ONLY 10% of the entire wave spectrum.
Meaning all we see, which is a lot, is all inside just that 10% area. Leaving 90% to the unknown. Yet this unknow is in front of our very noses all the time and is surrounding us.
To claim there is nothing there in that massive 90% when we see so much in the 10% is a foolish statement.

I am very well educated and i have to say that i do believe in demons, because it is a sign that if they do exist then the devil exist meaning that God does exist.
I know of a friend who is a priest that goes to Africa and performs exorcisms all the time.

Sweetie, deamons, the devil, its all real, very real. how do you think such awful things in the world happens? Trust me the biggest lie the devil ever told was that he did not exsist! and if you don't have Jesus on your side you can't fight them off! Get that, it is real. and you don't have to be educated to know that. its a fact. devil worshippers know he is real. Read your Bible. his, the devil (no won't even capitalize the word) loves when you think he doesn't exist. and those who believe that maybe don't even have many downfalls, why? because they already are doomed, the devil's work with you is done. you think he doesn't exist. Crazy.

You may choose to believe me or not but I have seen this phenomenon in action and this entity sent a chill through my body and it was definitely evil. Yes, I am educated and yes I believe.

I believe in God and angels; therefore, I believe in Satan and demons. The Bible says that a third of the angels followed Satan and they are now what we refer to as demons. By the way, I graduated *** Laude from college and with honors from the honors program in high school.
