Why did red states from the last election choose Obama over Hillary?

In most states with Bush as a clear winner in the 2004 election they chose Obama as their candidate.

Because Obama appeals to moderates, independents, and even some republicans. Hillary does not. And without those votes, the dems will lose in November.

Source(s): Lisa, you are mistaken... once again. Obama beats McCain in hypothetical head-to-head polls. Hillary loses. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/presi... This shows averages of all major polling companies, so it is not too skewed one way or another.

If it comes down to Obama or McCain, I will vote McCain. McCain is experienced and a Vietnam vet who fought for this country.

I might vote McCain over Hillary too if she is thinking of garansheeing wages to pay for forced health insurance. No one can afford that and that is taking away a lot of her supporters.

Obama is inexperinced (1 yr senator), only 1st generation American and...

In 2007 at a public function, Obama refused to put his hand over his heart when the national anthem was sung by Whitney Houston and refused to say the pledge of allegiance. That is unpatriotic and a slap in the face to anyone who has served or is serving in the military.

Obama’s cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and tried to get Sharia muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers have burned Christians' homes and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took shelter. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here started. Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get. No one wants to know the truth. YA deleted my question asking if anyone had heard of this.

Obama was an unknown a few months ago and is all of a sudden played up by the media as the messiah or media darling?? Where did this come from? How did he all of a sudden get rich enough to run for president when supposedly he doesn't take lobbyist money (isn't that where most candidates get their money to run?) . THINK ABOUT IT. NO ONE WANTS TO KNOW THE TRUTH. Any questions on here criticizing Obama are characterized as "racist" regardless of what the criticism is...meanwhile people call Hillary all sorts of things and no one calls that "misogynistic"...

Partly because Obama doesn't have the negative baggage that comes with most Republicans (from Bush) and Hillary.

Partly because many of said states have large African-American populations.

IF he gets the nomination he'd be stupid to no longer %. Richardson. Edwards has shown that he won't be a commodity that maximum individuals care approximately. the rest have somewhat undesirable skeletons that have been delivered out in the past and that's the rationalization they are in a position to't win on their very own (i'm finding at you Biden) or do no longer likely convey something to the table (Landrieu/Sebelius). With Richardson he would desire to faucet into the Latino vote that isn't vote for him on my own b/c Latinos do no longer vote for Black applicants (see Vaca "The Presumed Alliance"). additionally, b/c Richardson is from NM he would make McCain would desire to combat in his very own outdoor (the southwest). ultimately, via getting Richardson he would upload journey to the fee ticket some thing that he lacks and could would desire to get the concentration faraway from Iraq and journey and to kin themes.

Have you noticed that residents of the red states aren't especially fond of Hillary? I hope that's not news to you.

    I don't think it's terribly surprising they'd prefer a different candidate.

At the general election if it is Obama and McCain.
