Ive lived in nirthern illinois most of my life and have never heard of nor seen snow thunder what is it.a thunder storm with snow?

    yes and for all the same reasons that cause thunder storms in the summer or at any other time.

    Violent vertical winds. major temperature differences between surface and upper levels. moisture.
