    Actually, the sun rotates faster at its equator than its poles.

    Because there is no fixed point of rotation, the plasma 'rivers' of the sun rotate at different speeds...

    This is what causes the sun's immense magnetic fields.

    Any rotating sphere rotates at one speed. What differs is the speed at the surface of the sphere, which is faster the farther the surface is from the axis.
