Uh, no. Discipline has to do with being in control of yourself. "Meditation" comes in many flavors, most of them involving concentration, but that way does not work.

Below is a link to a "meditation" exercise which is the opposite of concentration. Actually it is an antidote for the chronic hypnotic state us humans are born to.

When the gurus used to talk about "raising your level of consciousness" that just means waking up out of the dream state. You know the dream state:

Try this: sit still, close your eyes, become aware of your hand. Just lightly notice that it's there, you can feel it tingeling. At the same time, sitting in the cave of your head, forget your eyes and direct your "mind's eye" (attention) to the center of your forehead.

Now, just sit there listening to the birds. Object is to stay in the present moment. In about 3 seconds you will have forgotten about your hand and will be in a daydream or some sort.

When you realize you have not been experiencing the present moment, just gently be aware of your hand, DO NOT CONCENTRATE ON ANYTHING and be aware of the middle of your forehead from the inside.

Do this 3 times a day for 20 minutes and in 6 months you will be living in a different world. Because you will be seeing things in the Light of Truth, which is omnipresent, except when you are dreaming, living in your head, which is almost all the time now.

BEWARE: the first Truth you see will be the truth about yourself. This is the object of the exercise.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: loss of all your so-called friends. Exorcism(s). Spiritual enlightenment. etc etc etc.
