What is the best paintball gun for your money?

I am wanting to buy a new paintball gun for my husband for his birthday. His friend gave him his old one (very, old) as a starter and I was just going to get him a new face mask, a new tank, etc. for it, but I would like to just buy him a better one in general. Since this is a surprise I can't just ask him and since he's new to the whole paintball gun sport, I'm not so sure he would know what he would want anyway. I really need to know about a gun, but any info would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Update:

I looking for something in the

$200-$250 range, but cheaper would be appreciated.

Update 2:

I know he will be using CO2, he will be playing in mosly wooded areas, but his friends have gone to courses before.

    We need more information.

How much are you willing to spend on the gun alone?

Where does he play, in the woods, or on a speedball course?

What gas does he use, (HPA or CO2)?

P.S. Robert S, why do you call HPA (high pressure air) HCA?

Ive never heard it called that before. What does it stand

    for?

Your best bet is a Tippmann A-5. They cost around $200 and are about the best woodsball gun you can buy. The gun also will run on CO2 or HPA and has the cyclone feed system. So he never has to worry about shooting too fast for his hopper.

I would also recommend getting him a new barrel. The stock one on most guns are horrible, and the A-5 is no different. You can get a J&J ceramic for a cheap price and theyre super accurate barrels.

Knowing your price range would be helpful. but I like the Inver Mini. It runs $335. However it only runs on HCA not co2. so it may not be a good choice for him depending on the gas system he uses. Another good marker for the money that can use either gas sustem is the ION. it runs about $165

If your budget is larger then these, it gets more complacated. But know heigher end markers only use HCA.
