Question about what to do at Officer Candidate School board?
To begin with, I don't need any answers related to not joining or anything negative about the armed services. There are plenty of other posts that such talk is for.
Alright, I have recently completed my paper work for US Army OCS, and have to go to MEPS in a few days. When typing my paperwork, my recruiter changed some of the information, in particular my drug experimentation (3 times on my week of Christmas Break) 2 and a half years ago and my being injured 2 weeks later on the job (non-related) and failing a drug test at the hospital I was taken to. After all the paper work was completed and submitted, he told me to come out side and have a cigarette. Outside he explained how he changed it, and advised that if asked about past drug use I should deny it since I didn't have the business I was fired from on my list of past jobs (as I had 3 jobs and 3 periods of unemployment to fill them). Basically don't shot myself in the foot.
If asked about drug use, should I deny it?

I would suggest doing what the recruiter says as he knows what would prevent you from getting in. Ordinarily, I would say honesty is the best policy, but the military has zero tolerance for drug use. Don't ruin the chance of a lifetime because you experimented with marijuana a few times. Make sure you are not doing it now. They will definitely do a urinalysis when you go to MEPS and immediately when you get to OCS training. I think you are making a great decision and that you will enjoy being in the military.

Heres what will happen if you go that route. I just graduated in December from army ocs so im not giving you a what-if scenario. You sound like your a college-op so im assuming you wouldnt have your security clearence. You'll interview for it before you leave, lie again about drug use, but you'll make it to ocs. Depending on how good you can pt, you'll class up and start going through the training. They just switched to the 12-week cycle program, so between weeks 9-12, the commander will pull you aside and tell you your going to HHC, a holding company, then your off to AIT because your security clearence failed...
When they start doing the check on the security clearence, they pull records from the IRS. That job WILL show up... you take it from there.
Dont lie, the army doesnt forgive. hope this helps man.

sure, deny it if you want to be charged with Fraud later on down the line. see here's how it works: you put down the names of some friends and associates for them to interview. BUT they don't just interview THEM.. they ask for MORE names and then go after THOSE people.
One of the CORE VALUES of the military is integrity. by lying on an official federal document, you have just proven you don't have any. do you REALLY expect to be given a chance to lead after having LIED TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT?!
Bottom line, the recruiter's butt won't be in a sling when you get caught. yes I mean to say WHEN. YOUR career, however will be over before it has begun. Your recruiter is doing you a major disservice and be reported to his superiors.

i might say pass Nuke. you're probable unlikely to be a solid candidate with a loss of modern-day math (and that i'm guessing physics, besides?). Enlisted nuke could help with that. And to allow you to in on a no longer-so-secret secret, enlisted nukes do extremely nicely in decision for officer commissioning classes. Edited to characteristic: you do know there are nuke officers, good? in case you tell them you prefer to pass nuke officer, that would desire to help, truthfully. you ought to do a minimum of one excursion in enlisted ranks as a Nuke, yet nukes do have an benefit in getting chosen for commissioning classes, like I pronounced. some fleet time would possibly no longer be a undesirable component. it is problematical to assert, overall. in case you pass Nuke-enlisted, there continues to be a huge gamble of going officer later, so there is that. superb of success to you overall, and desire to be sure you interior the fleet.
